Unfortunately, you are not terribly off from what IDist did come up with. Most of it relied on arguing that a computer simulation is not biology and the outcome was "predetermined" by the core of the program.
Unfortunately this still doesn't do ID any favours. It pretty much suggests that the Intelligent Designer (*cough* god *cough*) is a lazy programmer who wrote and compiled the universe, then buggered off and left it to run on its own.
I actually quite like this scenario. From now on I will refer to it as LCP, the Lazy Cosmic Programmer hypothesis. Now, how to falsify it...

I learn something new every day! But I don't think the founders of Ireland were Deists - they had a pagan thing going on... (Ok I know what you mean, I'm just being funny.)
I still want to call it the LCP hypothesis though. It's got a nice ring to it.

I was going to jump on you for that (see sig), but see that it is already covered.
there is some {valid} discussion of just how many US founding fathers were bonafide deists or just free thinkers with a lot of deist influence from those heady times. Washington is questionable (but no christian), Jefferson is borderline (and no christian), Paine is probably the best known bonafide deist, and Ethan Allen lesser so. There are others as well but they are lesser figures in americn history and had less to do with the founding aspect.
Huh?
I was making a joke, because you said our founding fathers and I'm not American. Hence the name "IrishRockhound".
To be honest, I don't actually care whether the American founding fathers were deist or not. I'm also not a deist - I just happen to find the notion of a Lazy Cosmic Programmer funny.
So what were you going to jump on me for?
