political science profs demand agreement that the war in Iraq proves Bush is a war criminal
If that claim is factual, why should it be suppressed just because someone erroneously believes it to be false? ZOWIE. This quote ought to be enshrined in some kind of museum of mental rigidity / total inability to see anybody else's point of view / absolute hidebound bigotry. Actually there are not words adequate.

Every word you put out belongs pointed back at yourself. What amazing depressing pig-headedness, absolute inability to respect a political view other than your own, to treat other human beings as having a right to their opinions, or even AS human beings, period, to appreciate DIVERSITY of opinion, Other Points of View, to give the Benefit of the Doubt, etc etc etc etc etc etc. To call Bush a war criminal is so beyond all reason that EVERYBODY should be rebuking you for it, but the problem is that this is merely Leftist propaganda in a particularly pure form, the hatred of everything good that has been pumped into university students for the last four decades. No wonder you all hate the idea of the FREEDOM OF THOUGHT AND SPEECH that the Academic Bill of Rights aims to provide. You're scared to death of true freedom, diversity of opinion, the freedom the American founders tried to give us. The hatred that comes from the Left against honest ordinary Americans is just astonishing, tragic, actually so evil it is almost impossible to grasp that it is as real as it is. How can you??? What on earth possesses you to say such things?

Get real. Professors GRADE students. Students HAVE TO LISTEN to professors, have to PASS THEIR TESTS. Professors have POWER, the power to RUIN a student who doesn't toe their line if they so desire.

Curriculum is not a problem. It's the noncurriculum stuff that's the problem.

I got this answer from Sara Dogan of Students for Academic Freedom in response to my second email concerning this topic, this time asking about evolution.
We've heard this objection again and again and always our response to it has been that the academic bill of rights would require professors to teach a "spectrum of significant scholarly perspectives" in the classroom. Since Creationism is a doctrine based on faith and not scholarship, it would not be considered a scholarly perspective and would not have to be taught in science class. The same argument works for those who say the ABOR would require professors to teach that possibly the Holocaust didn't exist---this is an unscholarly fringe perspective and not a "significant scholarly view." Hope that helps, Sara Sara DoganNational Campus Director Students for Academic Freedom 1411 K Street, NW, Suite 1100 Washington, DC 20005 202-393-0123 Sara@studentsforacademicfreedom.org Sucuri WebSite Firewall - Access Denied This should also apply to the question about the Deism of the American Founders. "Spectrum of significant scholarly perspectives" ought to cover it. I will probably be gone for most of the day. I hope Canadian Steve shows up and has some good answers. That's ONE MONTH'S WORTH OF COMPLAINTS, between April 20 and May 27 this year, not the whole range of complaints over the last few years that are being addressed.
IN fact, that one month tally ought to hint that there is a substantial problem to be addressed overall. This message has been edited by Faith, 06-10-2005 11:13 AM

You are right I was in a rush and didn't take the time to read it completely and am not taking the time to read it now although I may eventually. But I'm sure you posted it without reading through the arguments on my side of this too.
The point is that all the objections that are being posted here are treated as if nobody ever thought of them before, but when they are checked out it turns out they have reasonable answers, in fact have been answered many times over. The Academic Bill of Rights has been in the works for years now and has received tons of complaints that have been answered at length by David Horowitz and Sara Dogan and other representatives of the ABOR. Without reading through the evidence on the ABOR side of this everybody here just keeps throwing up uninformed objection after objection. I understand that the sites that have been linked have a LOT of information on them and it is hard to sort through it all. NEVERTHELESS this automatic unthinking assumption that objections would not have been considered and answered in all that material is nothing but a reflection of the anti-conservative paranoia and prejudices that the bill is designed to address. See my Message 93 for Horowitz's answer to the AAUP. This message has been edited by Faith, 06-10-2005 07:33 PM

Horowitz answers AAUP:
Larkinhas writtena 3,500 word attack on me on the California AAUP website called What's Not To Like About the Academic Bill of Rights. Not a word of this diatribe mentions an actual statement from the Academic Bill of Rights.Instead it is an attack on me personally and on imaginary demands of the academic freedom movement for "balance" and equal representation (there are no such demands). Larkin evenclaims that the academic freedom movement is proposing an affirmative action program for conservatives that would force him to hire his ideological enemies. This is alsopure invention. The AcademicBill of Rights specifically forbids hiring faculty on the basis of political viewpoint. How does one deal with dishonesty at this level? How indeed?? Inside Every Progressive Is A Totalitarian Screaming To Get Out - David Horowitz And answers and answers:
Search Front Page Magazine for AAUP You call the following hyperbolic typical leftie-style rabble-rousing "logic and scholarship"? You think the fallacy of poisoning the well with language such as "extremist agenda" "assault on higher learning" and other Leftist Activist Incitement Language is reasonable discourse?
While our public school are being attacked in Kansas and Dover our universities are being undermined by people with an extremist agenda. Those of your who are involved in this debate to help protect primary education also should be concerned about this blatant assault on higher learning and the educations we have recieved for which we place so much value. Send emails and letters to representative. Give monetary support to these orginizations already entrenched in the battle for our freedom. Get involved in your government and make a change! Empower yourself and take responsibility for the direction of our beloved country goes! The TRUE battle for TRUE freedom in this country is AGAINST this kind of mindless Sixties-style New Lefty activist agitation. This message has been edited by Faith, 06-10-2005 06:53 PM

You've sure swallowed the party line.
You are the anti-intellectual kneejerk mindless accuser of people who has no respect for anything decent, you and most others here. Anyone who can say that it could possibly be objective fact that Bush is a war criminal has no respect for true intellect, for clear thought, no respect for the majority of decent Americans who voted for him, no respect for human beings, period, no respect for truth, for reason, for reality, no mind, no heart, no human decency. No respect for the American values of tolerance and giving the benefit of the doubt and treating your opponent with respect. No respect for American freedoms. The Leftist propaganda juggernaut is destroying everything true and good in this country and you and most others here are just riding along on it, blindly, unthinkingly, having NO idea of the true source of its evil anti-American smear campaign, while a very few of us have the guts to look it in the face and call it what it is. It's insanity, it's lies, it's evil. Get an education in what matters. If I get suspended for this, it was well worth it. This message has been edited by Faith, 06-10-2005 07:35 PM

Listen I've opposed the creationist attempt to get into the public schools. I think it's a lost cause and only creates conflict. I think Christians should LEAVE the public schools, period.

Your MO seems to be asking cheap-shot nuisance questions to keep your opponents busy over all kinds of trivia instead of doing what you yourself should be doing in order to understand the subject matter.
The point I was making about the AAUP was that all those things have been discussed to death by Horowitz and company, every objection that has come up here in this discussion as a matter of fact, and you need to read his answers to the charges. I posted links to his discussions of the AAUP complaints in Message 93. I don't need to read the AAUP stuff because he's answered it and it amounts to just another typical nuisance discussion. If you want to dispute certain points, fine, but don't throw whole diatribes against the ABOR into the middle of a discussion that's the usual pile-on by the EvC Nitpickers and Naysayers while of course ignoring every point made on the other side. Thank you.

Your comment about conservatives not knowing justice is nothing other than obtuse silliness. Maybe you're too new here to get more than a warning, but you could get yourself suspended for that kind of remark. But I'm sure glad to see it said. Crashfrog is notable for callow obtuse silliness which he presents as words of wisdom. Now maybe I'll get suspended again. Carry on. Appreciate your comments.

The objectors are taking a stand against a bill of rights. What else needs to be said? Exactly. The left that takes such pride in its championing of rights shows its true suppressive colors, but they're too obtuse to recognize the irony.

What do you think you're going to accomplish by hurting my feelings all the time like that, Faith? How very Christian of you. One would hope it would deter you from the insulting rude and stupid things you say to me for one thing, but I guess that's a futile hope.
