Hi,
if they were perfect why'd they eat the stinkin apple? I don't believe that the Old Testament ever states that Adam and Eve (or the world) were created perfect, but I could be wrong, that's why I asked for support from CD. To be a bit pedantic, the Bible also never states that it was an apple they ate, just a "fruit". Brian.

Without looking it up, I just recall Genesis saying that things were "good" when God created them. That's pretty subjective. And I'm sure that when humans were created, on a Saturday, with God itchin' to punch out and start the week-end, that standards for "good" were probably even lower than usual.

Hi Chi
And I'm sure that when humans were created, on a Saturday, I think it was a Friday
with God itchin' to punch out and start the week-end, that standards for "good" were probably even lower than usual. I think God was so knackered that He had to have a wee rest on the Saturday, probably all that partying with 'Hill's Angels' !! I never got this 'perfect creation' claim, mankind had to be made with a flaw, otherwise God's sick plan could never have happened. Brian.

According to the book of Genesis, water covered every portion of the high mountains..highest of which is about 6 miles high. This means that there had to be water sufficient to be 6 miles deep over the entire planet. Just where did this amount of EXTRA water come from? And where did it go afterwards? The Noah story is the booger in the oatmeal for fundys.

According to YEC's all the mountains were formed after the flood by supper fast plate tectonics.

The fundys are absolutely scary. Mention the word God or Jesus in any sentence and their brains just go off. I have experienced this phenomenon over the years. Always some off the wall explanation that makes everything fit. Clearly in Genesis, God tells Noah to take on board 2 or either 7 of each creature. (I guess that was an option for Noah)
Then, trying to justify the 5,000 year old earth idea, the fundys say that the dinosaurs were contemporaries with Noah and simply drown in the flood. Did God tell Noah, "Yo, Noah, take 2 (or 7) of everything except the dinosaurs?" God said take ALL. So Noah not only took millions of species of everything else, he must have taken 2 (or 7) each of the big boys, too. Think about that for a pregnant moment. "Japheth, watch your little sister near that pissed off Tyrannosaurus. By the way, where's all the cows and pigs? I see a hoof under that Velociraptor." Just how brain dead can we be to even consider this stuff being accurate?

I am a christian, but not a fundamentalist jihadist that is completely ignorant of the facts of the natural world and universe that god created. When I was a young man i was taught all the things in the bible and studied it well i also studied biology, chemistry and geology as a teenager! This Caused serious issues with me. when you teach a child incorrectly from the start you set them up for complete loss of faith in every thing when they see that real world data is completely different from the what they where taught as children. So to find out I then went to college and found that some of the things i was taught was untrue I lost faith and decided to go find out for my self. so for years I went to the western united states to see for myself and found great truthes written in the stones by god's hand himself and that is what geology studies, what is written is the stones, but the problem is that these young earthers are no differrent then the flat earthers they cling to a single straw of evidence while ignoring the entire bale. Science deals With Observations That leads to hypothosis, testing the hypothosis by taking measurements to prove your hypothesis with hard data and then propose a theory that fits the facts and showing this data to your peers for review. Now for a hundred or so years the geological column has been explored to a great extent and continues to be i myself have seen with my own eyes many things that discredit a global flood there is very strong evidence of a local flood event in sumaria, Noah's father Lamech was king of the Sumerian city-state Shuruppak, a commercial center on the Euphrates River in what is now Iraq. http://www.flood-myth.com/index.html . there are also many books of the apocrypha that referenced the flood and the actual events that followed and that noah's family wasnt the only survivors. I believe that the inconsistent text of the early bible lead the church to remove these books of the apocrypha from the bible to give us the uniform book we have today. http://www.comparative-religion.com/christianity/apocrypha/
OK so with that said we can start looking at evidence from some good sources woods hole is doing some good stuff to help the planet and us http://www.whoi.edu/...pics/abruptclimate_joyce_keigwin.htmlalso south pole research is doing some good science as well. what we find in the research is that multiple measurements taken in multiple location with multiple techniques shows that the data is harmonious and the odds of that happening are pretty slim to say the least. I often wonder why i should care if people misslead there children Problems with a Global Flood, 2nd edition This message has been edited by pit40, 11-25-2005 11:04 AM This message has been edited by pit40, 11-25-2005 06:30 PM

Yes i understand that! I have also shown a great deal of people the proof of no flood it just seems a duanting task to stampout ignorance(to ignore) when so many people just pick what they want to believe and will even twist facts and use the smoke and mirrors ploy to mislead people like icr and aig. also to give up the myths of the bible is a terrifing thing for most people.
