Has anyone with a good physics knowledge ever hear of "active zones" and "dead zones" in relation to kinetic and potential energy. Apparently nothing to do with what most people think of when they hear kinetic and potential energy?
This might seen like a strange question but a guy at work was going on about hearing this theory (he didn't know the name) from a guy who supposedly goes to Oxford.
I think he was being duped, but I never had physics past my 1st year in varsity. I've done a quick internet search and found nothing.

This is what I managed to figure out. There are "dead zones" in any sequence on events that we cannot see, followed by "active zones" in which we experiance our daily lives.
The "active zones" are periods of EK (Kinetic Energy) and the "dead zones" are periods of EP (Potential Energy). Except that to call it a 'period' (in the case of a "dead zone") isn't entirely accurate since time also basically stands still 'during' a "dead zone".
The guys isn't very good at explaining these things and english is his second language.

I can't say I've heard of them, compmage (not that I'm a physicist, but I did do a physics degree in my dim and distant past).
I'm not sure that this is a "mainstream" view.

I can't tell if its something explained so badly that it is unrecognisable or completely out to lunch.
