Thank you very very much
...for all of your messages.
I don't have a lot of time now, but I am back on my feet and basically all is well. I say basically because nobody is exactly sure what happened or rather why it happened. I started feeling sick at about 1am, had a sharp pain at about 10am and then called an ambulance when the pain had gone from horrible to crippling. By the time the ambulance arrived I had gone into shock. The pancreas inflaming was the cause of the pain and sickness, but nobody seems to be able to work out why the pancreas decided to flare up.
I'll bore you all with the details when I have more time, but I just wanted to say a big thank you for the supportive words in here. I came to the site when I was feeling physically better but my morale was really low and my spirits were raised by what I read here.

Re: Doctors = Mechanics
Your doctors are going to treat you like a car now. They don't know exactly whats happening, so they are going to run every test and check every system they can until they do!
I am already getting used to the duality of being Mod the 'car' and Mod the human. Fortunately I find the 'car' part quite fascinating, but the human gets scared about it. They ran pleeeenty of tests already. Unfortunately, I learned that my particular brand of complaint is potentially very rare and 'a highly exciting area of research'...so if it turns out I have that brand of complaint, I'll become very familiar with being jacked up and having people staring at my undercarriage. They sent me home while they arrange a meeting with more boffins to scour the CT Scan for further clues.
And yes, they can replace the pancreas, but only I believe if I have a certain type of diabetes.

Buz, if these enzymes are ingested, how do they survive the digestion process, including the hydrochloric acid in the stomach?
Pancreatic enzyme supplements are prescribed to patients who have had a large amount of their pancreas removed. I haven't a clue how they survive denaturing, maybe they don't.

Re: Doctors = Mechanics
If its rare enough....they'll name it after you! Cross your fingers on that one.
I have a name that would be great for something like that. I was hoping a physical law or cycle or process. But a disease works too. Unfortunately there are still thousands of sufferers and it is just referred to as idiopathic. A lot of them are thought to be genetically related. The gene involved is often CFTR - the 'cystic fibrosis' gene discovered by Dr Francis Collins.
Still, it would be more apt if the doctor involved got the name. At the moment, that could end up meaning it gets called 'Simpson's disease'.
Though painful, my tongue is assuredly in my cheek!

Topic!
Glad to see you are feeling better. Get well soon as I miss your kind way of dealing with my misbehavior.
The topic here is my sickness and how you all spent the nights worrying yourselves sick over my well being - not my moderation style!
