Just a thought for you from the viewpoint of a very fast reader. Capitalization makes it easier to spot the beginning of a sentence. Especially since computers today only give one character space after a period even when two are used.
Yes age also plays a part in not seeing the period as well. "Peshat is what I say and derash is what you say." --Nehama Leibowitz

It's not just the fast reading that gives you trouble. I read fairly slowly and no capitalization also gives me trouble. Honestly, I have to use more mental power and concentration to read and understand a post that has no capitalization. You can call it a disability if you want. I have to read twice or thrice to mentally process a post with no capitalization. And since it takes me a lot more time to read such posts, I've been ignoring them.
I can't remember the last time I read arachnophilia's posts. I've been ignoring him for so long... With bren's posts, I only read them if there are 3 lines or less. Anymore than that and I just skip right over them. It just takes too much mental effort to absorb them... Disclaimer: Occasionally, owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have used he/him/his meaning he or she/him or her/his or her in order to avoid awkwardness of style. He, him, and his are not intended as exclusively masculine pronouns. They may refer to either sex or to both sexes!

Tazmanian Devil writes: You can call it a disability if you want. I do. Count yourself lucky. The mental power and concentration that I have to use increases exponentially with the length of the post. brenna is mercifully brief. arach is much harder to read (though worth it). it's actually just because capital letters are harder for me to read and are less attractive. it's not malicious, it's just... different. but we've had this discussion a million times and should probably clip it off here.

AM, can you give any kind of indication that you actually read threads before you determine what is on or off-topic? Because it seems like you're just comparing post content to thread title.
I don't see that that kind of lazy admin'ing is appropriate. When arguments are supported - as the forum rules demand that they be - by additional arguments and evidence, some latitude needs to be allowed for those sub-arguments to be explored. In a recent case on the subject of guns, the lethality of gun alternatives was very much part of the topic - which you would have known if had been reading the thread. In general your tendency to act unilaterally on incomplete information disrupts more legitimate conversation than it supports.

Ok, so let me see if I get this right. You've said before that to you capital letters are ugly and that the smaller letters are more pleasing to your eyes. Now, look at the following sentence written in two different ways.
(1) X-Men 3 The Last Stand is the best movie in the trilogy. (2) x-MEn 3 tHe lASt sTaND iS THe beST MoViE iN thE tRilOgY. According to your last statement, these two sentences look essentially the same to you, correct? In other words, any capitalization at all within the sentence, whether it's the beginning, middle, or end of the sentence, would make you see the whole sentence in a similar format as (2)? Disclaimer: Occasionally, owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have used he/him/his meaning he or she/him or her/his or her in order to avoid awkwardness of style. We're talking about a topic proposal. If you submit a topic proposal that is in accord with the Forum Guidelines and adheres to normal standards of clarity and presentation, it will be promoted. Normally one would improve an unsatisfactory topic proposal by applying the provided feedback, but if you choose not to take that approach then I'm afraid you have only two remaining options: 1) find a more sympathetic moderator - AdminBuzsaw and AdminPhat are possibilities; 2) move on. Respectfully, I think you missed my point... What I tried to say in my last post (but only thought of this analogy afterwards) is that as an example, you are asking me to show you a protein directly. I am trying to remind you (and failed to be diplomatic about it), that we cannot directly observe a protein. You must use electrons and then mathematically construct the image of a protein. And that is akin what you are requiring of me... I have said very clearly, that I cannot support the assertion that 'information has intrinsic purpose' with direct observation in the manner you require. It must be seen indirectly. The method I used in our discourse is the proper technique. We have to look at the logic of it and apply the law of non-contradiction. And when we do, we see that 'any denial that information has no intrinsic purpose', is a logical absurdity. It is therefore false. So the opposite (that information does have intrinsic purpose) is self evident in logic. To deny that it does not, is to deny that your statement itself has purpose, because your statement is also information. And your statements purpose is intrinsic as per the motives (be they honest or not) that are inseperable from the statement itself. Then... based upon your responses, I also showed over, and over, and over, and over, where your analysis broke down. I don't think it is a difficult matter. And your demands are patently unreasonable. We all have to calm down some times, and I am sorry for any brow beating. It is just so frustrating when I am assaulted so incessantly myself. I know that logic is very deep and difficult to see at times. These are tough subjects in a world that is no longer taught sound philosophical theory in our academies. However, if we do not see our own assumptions for what they are, because we do not use the only trustworthy tool to observe them, then we are operating blindly and steered entirely by what feels right. Just think about it carefully... Please. There's no hurry.

not to mention. it was one fucking post.
and two. just because a post is short doesn't mean it is "trite" or worthless. if you don't like my posts, don't read them. no one else seems to be complaining that i'm causing trouble. take your issues with my typing style out of your administrative duties, please. That's enough on brenna's capitalization since it really doesn't concern a moderation problem.
No need to examine Brenna's visual history. Suffice it to say there is a reason behind the little letters.

Actually you have missed the point, repeatedly.
The point: Rewrite your opening post to clearly state the topic to be discussed and present your position on the subject. In the PNT, admins do not care what the originator's position is. Our concern is that the opening post presents a clear topic, the title is descriptive, and that the originator has presented their position on the subject and hopefully some support or reasoned argumentation for that position. Instead of using the suggestions given by admins to help you prepare your OP for promotion, you chose to start debating the subject with the admin trying to work with you. Your PNT's have been closed because you argued with the admins instead of reworking your OP's. If you truly want any of your closed topics to be promoted you need to rewrite the OP's per the suggestions from the respective admins. You obviously have reasonable command of the English language, so there is no reason you can't write a clear and concise opening post. If you are ready to do that, then make a request in the Thread Reopen Request thread for the PNT to be reopened so you can edit the OP and then notify the admin working with you that you are ready for them to review your OP again. If you do not wish to rework your OPs, then your topics will not be promoted and this issue is closed. Do not continue debating the PNT issue in this thread or other threads.

I could care less what you do and do not capitalize. What I care about is your level of respect for administrators on this board.
This may be play, but we take our rules seriously. Basic respect is one of them. Forum Guidelines Take a time-out.
