The stem cell harvesting started on Monday. The told me 2 to 5 days, likely 3 to 4 and maybe not the first day (peripheral cells may not be up to a level to be harvested). They also said minimum 2 million peripheral cells needed to be collected before harvesting was complete.
Day 1: 6 million harvested. Glad I am, if for no other reason than that the harvest needle was 1mm diameter: that's kind of huge ... imnsho .... Now I get a couple days off. We spent today enjoying Boston and the Museum of Fine Art (special display on Hopper, one of my favorites). Enjoy. Day 1: 6 million harvested. Well, we always knew you were some sort of superbeing So we're expecting a superbeing-type recovery, ok?
the harvest needle was 1mm diameter: that's kind of huge ... I've never actually been bothered by needles... that is, until I started watching House and realised that needles come in a much larger variety of sizes than my experience had led me to believe

I went on holiday the day you wrote this post so I missed it. I went to walk the old Offa's Dyke border between England and Wales, and covered the southern half. I've had a fantastic time, breathing the free air while you've been involved in an uninterrupted horror-show.
Get well soon - we want you here!

yeah, I did not get to see the one they put into my hip for the bone marrow biopsy -- and they used a local anesthetic first. I still don't want to know.

Now that sounds like a trip worth taking. I've been to the wall erected by the romans to keep those crazy folks to the north out (not to pict on anyone in particular), and the barrows and dolmens that dot the hillsides around stone henge, and up to the lochs of scotland, but haven't been to wales or ireland.
yet.

yep. back when it was the evil USSR too. I've been to countries that cover more than 1/4 the land mass of the world (even more in Mercator projection ... ), so that leaves a lot of territory to go ...

Well, I heartily recommend Wales.
Although it a bit touristy, Hay-on-Wye is really great. It has a serious amount of second-hand book shops to look around. Its only tiny, but I spent a day looking around them and didn't see the half of it. I walked along Hadrian's wall (or bits of it anyway) about ten years ago. I had a really good time too. You obviously get about a bit... very impressive. I haven't been ANYWERE outside the UK in Europe. Not even a day trip to Callais or Dublin. I really should get out there... Hope all is going well(ish)
