The trial did not prove that OJ did not commit the crime. The trial was an attempt to prove that he did commit it. The jurors decided there was not enough evidence to prove him guilty. Not guilty does not mean innocent. Not guilty means 'not enough evidence to prove guilt.' There is a difference. In other words, we assume he didn't do it because there was not enough evidence to prove he did-- at least in the minds of the jurors.
