The entire purpose of the Flood was to kill the planet.
Actually, the overriding goal was to wipe out evil from the face of the Earth.
Did it work?

Re: Geez, the
So the temperature of the water doesn't matter.
Are you saying Noah took blue whales on the ark? Last I heard, they were having a hard time justifying even a small percentage of land animals fitting into such a boat for a year with all their food requirements. You just dumped two of every kind of sea, river, and pond life into the boat too, and left the rest of them to season the biggest pot of seafood gumbo in the history of the world.
The bottom deck of the ark must have had some awfully large aquaria, with hi-tech filtration systems, to keep those animals alive. How many krill do you have to breed daily to feed a blue whale?

Re: Geez, the
That is actually a very interesting point. I will have to research it a little more. My opinion for as much science as I know (no insults please, I have not offered any to anyone else) is that even large amounts of hot water would not be anough to change the temperature of the ocean quickly enough to kill its inhabitants, and like I stated before, water under intense pressure is not necessarily hot. It boils, but its temperature is normal, we tested this in physics.

I will check my ancient languages but I think the literal translation for gopher wood is indeed super duper thermos bottle.

Re: Geez, the
1) We already did the general calculations. This water is *HOT*. More precicely, it's mostly all boiled off to steam.
2) You've got it backwards. Water under pressure boils at a higher temperature. If you *reduce* the pressure, it boils at lower temperatures.

Re: Geez, the
And for all that, the deeper in the Earth's crust you go, the hotter it gets - water, rock, oil, and all. About 15 degrees F per 1000 feet (= 25 C per kilometer) is the average "geothermal gradient", at least in oilfield areas I know and love. And there are certainly no huge reservoirs that could have held all those "waters of the deep" in the top five or six kilometers of crust - Exxon and BP would have found them by now. So if there ever were waters of the deep, they were really deep and therefore hot. And equal masses of water at 196 C and 4 C give you 100 C water.
The above analysis ignores the fairly obvious fact, though, that the Noah storytellers held that the "waters" were part of the water of The Big Deep that the "circle of the Earth" floated on, like a shipwrecked Frisbee.....
It boils, but its temperature is normal, we tested this in physics.
Are you remembering this right? Are you sure that you didn't reduce the pressure on water until it boiled at room temperature?

Re: Geez, the
My bad, you're right. I don't know what I was thinking. I think I am confusing boiling and temperature...I know that water under pressuer boils hotter. I will retrace my thoughts and get back to you.

i heard a theory that the flood was the first time if ever rained, and the massive amounts of rain altered the atmosphere. thats why after the flood, only abraham, i think, lives to be real real old. and after that everyone else is 'normal'

The word "theory" is, IMHO, a little too dignified for that particular bit of silliness.
