For me today it is probably the piano bootleg version of "She's Your Lover Now" by Bob Dylan. Although Artur Schnabel's rendition of Beethoven's Piano sonata No. 30 (Opus 109) will always rank at top. And the opening theme to the movie "To Kill A Mockingbird". Miles Davis' "Funny Valentine" LIVE - ah there's too many to say.

Jerry Garcia - banjo, vocalsDavid Grisman - mandolin, vocals Peter Rowan - vocals, guitar Vassar Clements - fiddle John Kahn - bass What an awesome group of musicians. One of my favorite blue grass tunes "No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride...and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well...maybe chalk it off to forced conscious expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten." Hunter S. Thompson Ad astra per aspera Nihil curo de ista tua stulta superstitione. |

A beautiful song. Of course the Dead done so many songs that I love, but this one always makes me feel nostalgic with memories of my first love. Dont watch the youtube video, just listen. The video does nothing to represent the lyrics. Nothing. In English:
Faced by your enemies On every hand Battle is menacing, Now make your stand Fearful your question,Defenceless, open What shall I fight with? What is my weapon? Here is your battle plan,Here is your shield Faith in this life of ours, The common weal For all our children’s sake,Save it, defend it, Pay any price you must, They shall not end it Neat stacks of cannon shells,Row upon row Death to the life you love, All that you know War is contempt for life,Peace is creation Death’s march is halted By determination We all deserve the world,Harvest and seed Hunger and poverty Are born of greed Don’t turn your face awayFrom needs of others Reach out a helping hand To all your brothers Here is our solemn vow,From land to land We will protect our world From tyrants’ hand Defend the beautiful,Gentle and innocent Like any mother would Care for her infant. The translation is more poetic than literal. A lot of good stuff gets lost in the translation. Another version of the song by Danish singer Kim Larsen: Edited by rbp, : No reason given.

Who are these young lads
That march trough the village Who are these young lads whose faces glow so bright These are young partizansof unbending spirrit these are young partizans fighters of the new world who are these young girlsthey carry guns on their shoulders who are these young girls are they not afraid these are young partizansthey listened to the sound of their harts these are young partizans they left fear at home What is this young armythat sang trough the village What is this young army different then times before This is our true armythis is our mighty strength this is the partizan army they anounce the morning singing

Here is a, somewhat cheesy performance art, version of one my favorite songs from The Wall, along with the movie version if I can get it to work right.
Thanks for that version of pigs on the wing, don't think I had heard it before. Edited by fearandloathing, : No reason given."No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Almost forgot bout this band they went too pop for my taste now. Umm forgot the lyric for those who are not used to listening to these kind of vocal
Lyrics: I pace, alone In a place for the dead Overcome by woe And here, I've grown So fond of dread That I swear it's heaven Oh sweet Mary,Dressed in grief Roll back the stone With these words scrawled in a severed handTears fall like shards of glass that band In rivers, like sinners Swept with me to join the damned A darkened skyThe day that laughter died Fell swiftly into night And stayed within Her sight Staring at the knife Oh God, how easy now the sacrifice My life, to have Her with me So farewell to distant thunderThose inept stars I've worshipped under Fall father, their Father Lies in wait in flames below Whilst my love, a blood red flower Calls to me from verdant bowers Graveside, I cry Please save me from this Hell I know A darkened skyThe day that laughter died Fell swiftly into night And stayed within Her sight Staring at the knife Oh God, how easy now to sacrifice My life, to have Her with me An eye for an eye as espied in the bibleMy faith is lost to the burning of idols One less cross to press upon the survival Of this lorded agony And I, (much as I have triedTo bury Her from mind, Fate's tourniquet was tied, when She died...) Still sense Her presence so divine Lithe arms about my throat Like pining swans entwined Footfalls at nightfall close to mine Suicide is a tried and tested formula for release I snatch Her whisper like the wind through cedarsSee Her face in every natural feature Midst the mist and sleepy hollows of fever... With glee deceiving me Suicide is a tried and tested formula for release I hear Her voice from where the grave defies HerSiren song to sing along, no finer Suicide notes, harmonised in a minor Strike a chord with misery No light nor reefNo unsinkable of romance keeps me Safely from the stormy seas Now drowning, resounding Death-knells pound my dreams Unthinkable to dredge through this Listless and lonely winter frieze A darken skyThis day hereafter dies Falls swiftly into night And stays within my sight Staring at the knife Oh God, how ease it was to sacrifice My life, to have Her with me No more a victim of a crusadeWhere souls are strung from a moral palisade I slit my wrists and quickly slip away... I journey now on jewelled sands Beneath a moon to Summerlands To grace Her lips with contraband The blaze once in my veins Edited by frako, : No reason given.

In fact one of their heaviest albums was the one right after it (Godspeed on the Devils Thunder 2008). LAst year's 2010 album was pretty good as well (Midian 2000; is still my favorite though). Though Dani did cut his hair. It seems like they released one weak album and you gave up. You should give them another try, they are still great.
Im not saying they are total shit they just aint death metal anymore they are wanabe death metal. Still like their old tracks and cds though They never were Death Metal. More Black Metal then Melodic or Symphonic Black Metal (the rare non-Scandinavian band). this is Death Metal:

Music from my youth... I think this was originally a "b side" for Benny and the Jets or Daniel maybe? Beautiful song, Elton is one of my favorite piano/keyboard players. He has made a number of songs that move me, this is one of the best."No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind.
