whatever
And Noah and his family did this with what materials? What evidence in the bible even remotely suggests this line of "reasoning"?

Think when one talks about the moon pool, hull pool, ram pump its just talk about the feasibility of building a boat this size, but no the bible doesn't talk about this, even Kent Hovind mentioned that the ark may of had a moon pool, however, if it adds stability, the bible doesn't mention sea anchors either, but the pictures that Ron Wyatt took, suggest that they were a part of the ark, etc...
The pictures Ron Wyatt took of the sea anchors he believe belonged to the ark, on this link, its only circumstantial evidence, but a picture can at times say what words can not, et... Forbidden [This message has been edited by whatever, 12-29-2003]

Sidelined, Noah had iron and brass technologies available in his day kjv genesis 4:22, he would only of needed to seal a containment vessel with pitch, with the iron and brass technologies available in his day, wouldn't be hard to build a check valve, etc...
P.S. With all the rain coming down, it probably was easier to catch the rain as it fell from above, for watering the animals, etc...

This is silly, whatever. These ideas are all infeasible. Do you think this could work? Well, one more time: it is up to the creationists to prove that Noah's ark is feasible by building one! AiG is collecting huge amounts of money to build a creationist "museum"; why can't anyone collect enough money to prove that an ark can be built?

Care to give some backup references from archeological sources that iron technology was available at that time?
Iron, for a long time, was expensive and difficult to come by. You don't think that the Bible might have mentioned it's use? Or are you adding to the Bible? Are you going to add the steam engine next and GPS systems to find Mt Ararrat? ------------------Common sense isn't [This message has been edited by NosyNed, 12-29-2003]

NosyNed, The bible is the inerrant words of God, it says that they could make things out of iron and brass, this is important in the building of the ark, hinges, bolts, iron ribs, etc...
P.S. The flood happened approximately 5,000 years ago, so iron would of rusted away, though it is interesting the wooden warship that was over 370 feet in length, and that ship had mask, sails, etc...the ark needed none of this, it only needed to float, and was designed as an ark, fluid dynamics, sea anchors, didn't need steam or power to cut through the waves, to ride out a storm, etc...

Wrong, Whatever.
The Hittites were the first to use iron in the Middle East. That's recorded history. And I think that Tubal Cain was the first man to whom the manufacture of bronze and brass is attributed. That some Bible lore. The specifications for the Ark are quite detailed with regard to materials, size, compartments, ventilation, lighting, and superstructure. Why would brass and iron fittings be left out of such detailed boiler plate specs and special provisions. Now, go ask a shipwright if a wooden craft of the Ark's dimensions, not reinforced with structural metal, can float on water without cracking in half. Enough B.S. Just off hand, when did the Hittites start working with iron?
And, whatever, what Biblical passages refer to the use of iron? ------------------Common sense isn't

There's one somewhere that indicates that YHWH and the Israelites couldn't defeat some opponent because the had "chariots of iron." Damn arms race is still going on, too......

The Hittites are credited with inventing iron about 1800 BCE, fashioning weapons from it, and invading Anatolia (Turkey) and Syria where the inhabitants were armed only with brass and bronze weapons. The Hittites sacked Babylon in 1595 BCE, about the same time Abraham is said to have left Sumer and entered Canaan. The Hittites had several encounters with the Egyptians at a time when the Egyptians still used brass and bronze weapons. Thothmes III defeated the Hittites at Megiddo in 1520. Ramses II signed a treaty with the Hittites. Eventually the Assyrians conquered and incorporated the Hittite lands into the Assyrian Empire.
P.S. Uriah, the captain of the palace guard whom King David cuckolded and sent back to his death in battle was a Hittite. [This message has been edited by Abshalom, 12-29-2003]

LOL, the "whatever" in my post was referring to the nickname not a whatever as in the part of speech (whatever part of speech that is). So I wasn't asking you about iron in the Bible.
It seems a bit unlikely that iron can be invoked as the necessary "miracle" to get the ark to hang together then doesn't it? ------------------Common sense isn't

Ned: I editted the post right after re-reading your "iron in the Bible" question. LoL. Anyway, you're right, the technology for producing iron rivets, hinges, and other fittings did not exist during the traditional timeline for the "Flood" much less the technology for a forged or wrought iron supporting structure. Actually I think it's about time for one of the administrators to close this crock of manure down. The last several pages have been nothing more than puerile daydreaming along the lines of Robinson Crusoe or Gilligan's Island.

The bible disagree's with recorded history, that the first smelters of iron were the Hittites, but understand this would conflict with your belief Noah had to use wooden nails, likely he used metal ribs, subcontracting, had 120 years to build the ark, approximately 5,000 years ago, etc...
kjv Gen 4:22: And Zillah, she also bore Tubal-cain, an instructor of every artificer2794 in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah. H2794 cho^re^shkho-rashe' Active participle of H2790; a fabricator or mechanic: - artificer.

subcontracting,
Nice guy, too, that Noah. "Yeah, put in this iron ram pump, and I'll pay you six sheep and two rabbits. And let your sorry ass drown when the rain gets here."

It was one of those covenants, to Noah his wife and his sons wife's. He had no choice, if he wanted the protection in the flood for his family, etc...The bible is pretty clear that our blood is required, the generations of man, Noah came from the line of Seth, not Cain, interestingly, still put God first, building an altar after the ark landed on the mountains of Ararat.
P.S. Think this string has died, but for our generation God has placed an open door, and thats Jesus Christ, though, it said that even if one rose from the dead they wouldn't believe(no reason to build an ark),they wouldn't believe anyway, it about faith, its says Noah by faith built the ark, kjv Heb 11:7.
