And that is why you should be suspicious of any call for "States Rights"

quote: Probably because it isn't there. Seriously, the front page carries articles going back as far as July, and the second page has articles from July or earlier. Do you really think she made that claim months before the election ? Is it really too hard for you to look at the dates on the articles and work out that it would have to be on the front page ? Edited by PaulK, : No reason given.

Let us note that it is being blamed on the voting machines - which apparently require manual adjustments when a ballot is fed in more than once. If the machines were failing to scan ballots there could certainly be multiple insertions, but only a single vote recorded. The article does not indicate a discrepancy in the number of ballots versus recorded votes so we do not have any evidence of cheating at this point. It does say that this problem hurts Clinton's chance in the recount.

See my post above. There is no mention of any signature count at all, let alone a suggestion that it doesn't agree with the number of ballots issued.

As I sad, see my post above. Or read the article. It looks as if the problem may be nothing more than trouble getting votes to register, and the election workers failing to adjust the count. We simply can't tell from the information given that there is any indication of fraud at all.

quote: If that number is based on the machine count rather than ballots issued, then it would support my ideas about the discrepancy between the two figures in Detroit. If it is based on ballots issued, I have to wonder if many of them were due to the machines failing to register the choice.

There is a difference between a lack of liars whining that they didn't get what they wanted and worrying because you have a President regarded as a potential disaster even by senior figures in his own party.

For some years I have been concerned that the Republican Party was going to give up on democracy. That the gerrymandering and voter suppression, and the obstructionism was only the start.
Now an analysis of North Carolina rates it as being well below the standards expected of a truly democratic nation.
North Carolina is no longer classified as a democracy

quote: Hardly. As many have pointed out the concerns over a Trump presidency are very real. Nobody knows which of his campaign promises he intends to keep, and which were lies. There is the Trump University scam. There is the enquiry into the Trump Foundation. At best Trump is a one-percenter who will happily screw people over, elected on a platform of Nationalism and xenophobia (which he may or may not intend to follow). One wonders how many of the people who compared Obama to Hitler said the same about Trump - they would have been less unjustified.
quote: What a short memory you have. The Republicans were complaining about the polls in 2008 - when the polls turned out to be correct. Your accusation can be more justly directed at your side. Not that justice is anything you care about or even understand.
quote: Which only proves that if Hialeah had won you would be ranting about the election being stolen. And Trump is hardly civilised - he was happy to encourage violence against opponents. And you, yourself, want to beat up people who dare to prove you wrong.
quote: Hilary would certainly not have been my choice for the Democratic candidate. Unfortunately the Republican Party has been getting more and more extreme, to the point where the base is flirting with Fascism. And I note that Obama's presidency has hardly been a disaster and that many of the problems were due to the Republicans. We only need to look at the Affordable Care Act to see that. If a President tries to sort out a major problem and takes up a proposal from the opposing party to do so, why would they not cooperate. Why would some of them start screaming about "Death Panels" or complaining about "Socialised Medicine" when none of that is at all true ? How can anyone come to any conclusion but that the Republican Party is full of screaming partisan liars who - at best - didn't want a Democratic President t get the credit for making healthcare more available ?
quote: It that were true, then why do we have facts while you have unsubstantiated accusations - mostly from sources who love to publish unsubstantiated- or even downright insane - accusations against the Democrats ? Do you really want to defend the pizzagate accusations ? Or is that evil something you prefer to ignore and suppress ?

quote: Given the reports I heard - the Trump campaign doing everything they could to prevent a recount - I can be pretty confident that the Trump administration will not be in favour of any investigation. (And I have to say that such determination in stopping the recounts is just a little suspicious to my mind)

New Republican Congress reverses ethics move after outcry
The Republican caucus, after a secret vote, decided to end the independence of the Office of Congressional Ethics. Donald Trump tweeted against it, the Republicans held an emergency meeting and reversed the decision.

John McAfee is nuts. You should take anything he has said with more than a pinch of salt. Granted the report is pretty bad, but we don't know why that is (or what evidence is being kept back)
To the best of my knowledge everyone who has investigated (not just the security services) says that the Russians did it (two known groups are identified) based on the way they worked. The only people who disagree - and might actually know - are Wikileaks who might very well not want to admit being given information by the Russians. At this stage I am inclined to accept the attribution.

McAfee IS nuts - and hasn't investigated the hack either.
He is also known to say things that don't make sense Why quote him rather than Bruce Schneier or Brian Krebs ?
quote: That his assessments seem reasonable to you doesn't make him a reliable source. Especially when he's a determined self-publicist who doesn't have access to all the evidence.
quote: I'm inclined to give more weight to people who have actually investigated the hack and know all about the dangers of false leads. The people who know rather more of the evidence than has been released. Don't forget that even law enforcement can be very secretive. Prosecutions have been dropped because they won't reveal how evidence has been obtained. A recentexample

Do you believe Crowdstrike when they say that the Russians hacked the DNC ? If not, why not ?
