Just disappointed at how many people are so willing to forfeit reality for fantasy, especially when those fantasies involve so much exclusivity and inclinations towards violence.
Doesn't matter how many of which cults gathered at Nicaea, a few of which had to travel under the Emperor's guarantee of protection lest the other cults kill them. A cult is a cult. They were, and still are, all cults.
No sooner had the various factions departed Nicaea when the violence flared again, cult vs cult, christian vs christian, christian vs everybody else.
One thing I do notice is the fervor with which some people have to spread Christianity and an equal fervor to discredit it. No ordinary myth had such high pitched battles between human factions. I don't seek to forfeit reality. Granted I have my preferred fantasies and entitlements which I ask God to provide, but I am also no dummy. I see the spiritual war in everyday life. I get frustrated with some of my fellow Christians for being such able salesmen for Satan, despite their beliefs, and I too often come across more on the opposing team than on TEAM: Jesus, but as long as EvC survives, I will be here attempting to formulate arguments that make sense. Do keep challenging me though.
I need critics and skeptics more than I need cheerleaders!
The exclusivity and inclinations toward violence coming from Christians highlight the spiritual war that I believe we are in. Call it a persecution complex. The scriptures predict that if I get stronger (and according to my critics, more irrational in regards to my beliefs,) I will become less popular than if I showed signs of rational enlightenment. My hope is that everyone at least understands that I am not desperately grabbing at straws. My subjective experience has been strong.
Pray that I find reality and let go of the fantasy which our culture is feeding me.
Chance as a real force is a myth. It has no basis in reality and no place in scientific inquiry. For science and philosophy to continue to advance in knowledge, chance must be demythologized once and for all. —RC Sproul
