The great Dr. Dino is giving a talk at my university. Anybody think I should bother attending?

He's not charging admission is he?
Assuming it doesn't cost me anything, I'd go, just to witness the spectacle, if nothing else. Find out if the audience treats him like a serious speaker, or like a stand-up comedian. Moose

That's the key issue.
I'm not going to go if it's by paid admission, the circus might be worth it but I'd feel dirty for weeks for helping support what he does. However if one of the geology instructors went through with his threat to "get all liquored up and ask lots of questions" it would certainly be worth it. David McQueen was scheduled for this month but cancelled.

Go for it Gene.
Ask him as many embarrassing questions as he will allow before cutting off your microphone privileges. Be our eyes, ears and mouth. We're counting on you. db

What did you have in mind?
Dr. Hovind, do you or do you not believe in UFOs and/or the Loch-Ness Monster?

--Well I'm jealous What university do you attend/teach at? I'm waiting for him to stroll by USF, UF or somewhere in that area. How horrible would that be to see him quibble at the feet of a 16 year old of his own kind? A brief article I submitted to be posted in the links section of the 'Analysis of Kent Hovind' site can be found here:
http://www.promisoft.100megsdns.com/evcforum/Hovind.htm --The 'bogus Berkeley conversation' segment was my point of emphasis as you can see, that just caught my attention all too well. Some of the material was previously posted as a response to a post in this forum as well. It makes him look quite pitiful. Of course there's a big cookie jar of 'arguments' for you to dig into so go have fun now. --Edit - If you can, record it audio or video, that would be extreamly amusing! live and uncensored, eh? ------------------ [This message has been edited by TrueCreation, 11-08-2002]

I knew you'd have something to say about it.
Your site provides good ammo but it's much too wordy. If I wanted to make an embarrassing comment it would have to fit in a single sentence. Joe made a good suggestion but it's too dirty. I would only do that if Hovind decided to be really nasty and use me for target practice in front of the audience about the evils of evolution. Not that I'm worth the trouble but he'll be able to do that if he wants to, I predict at least 90% of the audience will be sympathetic to him. --But of course --Yes the page is much too wordy for Hovinds extremely shy attention/interest span in his 'seminars' & 'debates'. If it were me up there, I would ask him to give a brief thought about what he thinks of the Big Bang and mention retrograde motion, the Conservation of Angular Momentum or some words to that effect, I'm sure he'd go right into his little Berkeley convo. Or even be more direct in asking him how his the conversation went with this mysterious character. And then point by point just slam him on down and down, not like it would take all too long. He of course would then spout off a bunch of drivel about 'well I just said it was a theory, it could be wrong' and well, you know the routine. If it were close by, I'd be right behind you. ------------------

How about what organism has an amino acid sequence more similar to humans, the sunflower, or chimpanzee?

--If memory serves me right, he uses the the nucleotide sequence of the sunflowers mitochondrial Cytochrome-C and claims that it is identical to human Cytrochrome-C & that the human-chimp similarity thereof is insignificant. Given the obvious phylogenetic differentiation between humans & sunflowers. It is my understand this is completely false. Of course Hovind oddly never thought it would be nice to present the sequencing he speaks. -------------------
