JonF,
Click on reply to this message, then you can check the format of the UBB code by clicking the "*UBB code is on" link on the left of the text box.

Y'know, I gotta say JonF, I thought I'd pegged you an idiot's dream. Tunnel vision from the outsider's screen.
Who am I to talk, though? I never understood... the frequency, uh-huh.

"He supposed that the intent of the Gospels was to teach people, among other things, to be merciful, even to the lowest of the low. But the Gospels actually taught this: Before you kill somebody, make absolutely sure he isn't well connected."

It is on my list of things to do (it's a long list) to make the message number, thread number and forum number very easily available for cut-n-pasting into the message box. In the meantime, it is as others have described. If you look in the address box at the top of the browser page, you'll see the forum number is "Forumxx", where "xx" is the forum number. The thread is the integer part of the HTML file name, though you don't need the leading 0's. And the message number is the number after the "#" sign, but message numbers are already displayed with messages anyway.
So if the URL in the address box is this:
Then you'd type [msg=19,145,1].

That is the cause of Inversion which, as you know, leads to abominations.
