there are a few problems. so ill state the problems first.
define mainstream.
the mainstream problem is we have tons of so called "churches" and only one Christ. when so many that call themselves teachers of the Word, don't know the true Word, a lot of the teaching is wrong. but its broad-scale. most churches if not maybe all christian churches understand the basics without fully comprehending, so all churches are probably both wrong and right about things.
what would Jesus do?
who is Jesus? : the very consciousness of the living God in the body of a man.
the teaching is "love God with all your heart, and all your mind, and all your soul. (this is a commandment, a law, a condition to be obeyed if you accept Christ in your heart as your Lord.)
the next of the most important commandments: "love your neighbor as you love yourself" who is your neighbor? anyone you meet. (also a commandment/law to be obeyed if you accept Christ as lord)
by these two laws will you know those who come to you in God's name, and the difference of those who come in their own names, but professing to be from God but are not.
by these laws, there is to be no judgement in your love, of another, for all have failed and are dead by their sins. (accept by Jesus can we yet live again at the appointed time)
therefore, if a gay man is to meet those who truly are Christians, they will accept him, but not his policy. if the gay man is a christian, he will not subject his fact of being gay openly to other Christians, because of the dangers it could pose to the young and foolish. a non gay man can do gay acts, just as a good man can do evil acts, in times of weakness.
so also, if your enemy comes to you, it is commanded you love him. but not to cast your pearls before the swine, neither let your children be in the care of child molesters, because that is foolish. do not give away a car you have, that God blessed you with that you might do his will, but by giving away the blessing he gave to you, you cannot fulfill the will of God who gave it to you for his purpose. be wise in your understanding and do not confuse true love with love of lust. we love our children, but we also discipline them. if you do not discipline your children, they will become spoiled, and not do good things, but cause evil to themselves and others. so also, will you love with honesty and truth the others you love, and not be foolish in your love, but wise. that no evil comes from true love.
this is as i know it to be, yet because of the first problems, you know why it is not for most.
