On a serious note, I've seen some excellent debates here between creationist and those who understand science. RAZD, Percy, Wounded King, Taq, Bluejay, Dwise1, Granny, to name a few, always debate the topic and treat the opponent with respect.
Some are assholes but it's an aggressive debate site where both sides can bash each other, what do you expect? The only difference is, more people understand science (ie. biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy) rather than subscribe to psuedo-scienctific nonsense (ie. creationism, astrology, alchemy) - so one side definitely has more supporters than the other.
But fuck, given how shitty the US school system is, the fact that the majority of the people are on the side of science should be looked at as positive.
The fact is, creationism, astrology and alchemy truly are subjects to mock and ridicule IF anyone of those is actually trying to discredit science and scientific research.
Think of it this way, how long into a discussion/debate with someone who denies the holocaust took place would
you go before telling them they're just bone-headed idiots who are being ignorant by choice? Not long, at least I wouldn't take long.
In the same sense, debating creationsist can reach this level of frustration. So it's not as though the mocking, ridicule and teasing are unwarrented. My question is, why do you care? You're not a creationist, I assume you're not into astrology or alchemy either. So why side with people who
by choice would rather be stupid than get educated?
