You're contradicting the Bible.
The mountains formed after the Flood.

There's nothing in the Bible that remotely backs up your wild-ass claim of mountains forming after the Flood. It's something you MADE UP out of whole cloth.
Not if you had half a clue to the whole context, but I'm not going to take the time to fill you in right now.

It DOESN'T fit the geological evidence, as this thread shows. It fits the geological evidence and it doesn't contradict the Bible. And "not contradicting the Bible" is an extremely low standard. Gigantic alien helicopters dropping the mountains into place last Thursday wouldn't contradict the Bible either. That doesn't give you an excuse to make stuff up.

You have failed miserably in EVERY thread to back up your fantasies.
It fits the geological evidence which has been argued on other threads.

Funny how WORKING geologists are arrogant ignoramuses and you, who know nothing about geology, are the only one who understands.
I've proved the Flood over and over and over. Not to arrogant ignoramuses of coursel

I am not plural. And it's the geologists that you're disagreeing with.
I called YOU that, not the Geologists. Faith writes:
That's like telling the pilot of the plane that his information needs adjustment. But they know a lot, just not the crucially most important things, so their information needs adjustment. Science is self-adjusting. YOU are the last person on earth to be making the adjustments.

NOBODY has grasped your fantasies, including the geologists whom you insult.

How does a flood explain heavy sand floating on top of light silt long enough to lithify?
Nothing but a flood COULD explain how any sediments got layered at all.

How did it become compacted? And how long would that take? What I was thinking of was that the silt was the top layer in a deposit that got compacted as the water receded, especially if a lot of sediment above it was eroded away; and that the sand was deposited after the silt had sat there for a while in its compacted state. You said that, "Nothing but a flood COULD explain how any sediments got layered at all," but in fact it's geologists who DO have an explanation and it's you who don't. You admit you don't even have enough information to speculate, yet you reject the people who DO have the information.

But it doesn't. Getting sand above silt requires time. My point about the Flood being the only reasonable explanation is that this is all about deposited sediments, which suggests deposition by the Flood rather than the time periods of standard Geology. Remember the peanut-butter jar experiment? The sand goes to the bottom and the silt stays on top. The only way to get more sand on top of the silt is to let the silt dry thoroughly first. So sand on top of silt definitely DOES NOT point to a single event. Not only is a flood not the "only reasonable explanation", it isn't even possible.

How long did it take to dry? If you don't know, you don't even have a scenario. All you have is a fantasy.
Silt was dry enough in my scenario.

I'm going to call you on that. Even the thin layers in a peanut-butter jar wouldn't dry that fast. We know that by experiment. About 12 hours. And don't forget that there are MULTIPLE layers that can not be explained by a single event. You'd need the silt to harden again and again and again and again.

How could you get animal tracks when the only animals alive were in the ark?
Dry enough for animal tracks to be preserved in.

How would the tracks be preserved? We can see tracks on beaches every day and we know they're erased by the tide and/or waves.
If it rose tide by tide, which is my main hypothesis now, there would have been time between tides for animals to try to run away from it.
