I will start Religion has Brought on most of the Wars in this world and still leads people to hate others outside there own faith.
As Mike the Wiz points out religion is just one of the more popular vehicles by which power and greed travel. The real question is why is it so easy to manipulate religious masses? Imo, it is due to the same factors involved in any successful manipulation of the masses:
1) lack of or limited education/information
2) no tolerance for questioning or strongly discouraged
3) human tendency to feel superior over others (moral or whatever)
So, I would say "More wars/conflicts/people killed have been IN THE NAME of religion and/or god" a small but important difference. Hate, now this I would say has a stronger correlation for being religion-related.

Now, if we don't have religion from the beginning, would there be people who give donations, do goodness to others, etc. ?
I think people would be greedy, and do what ever they like, no rules, don't care to other. (Why should we care, we only live ones, so let's have some fun.)
1) Yes, people would still have actions that can be characterized as "good".
2) What world are you living in anyway??? Christian people are just as greedy as anyone else!
3) I would point out that for me it has an opposite effect of what you are saying...I make myself more accountable for my actions in this life instead of focusing on the afterlife (how very pagan of you)
And the genes go pass-trough us.
LOL, care to provide proof of that?

Surely you can't say them as Christians.. they are just a people who pretend to be a Christian.
This is a "cop-out". I could argue that anyone who is agnostic/atheist is good. If you then show me an atheist/agnostic who isn't good I can just say "well they must not be a true atheist/agnostic". Give me a break!!
give to the poor, do goodness, etc.
I do, thank you very much, BUT I am not Christian. So, whatcha' gonna claim next about how being religious gives you some moral advantage over everyone else?
Again if you don't believe in Bible, I can tell you nothing about it.
At least nothing logical/sensical. You would have to work hard to convince me there is a "sin" gene. And who told you that Adam and Eve would live forever, not get old? I don't recall that being said anywhere (I could be wrong though).

But I'm talking about something 3D NOT 2 (as in column/row).

Oh, and to get back on topic, goodness in humanity is innate and has nothing to do with any religion. That should be a no-brainer to everyone.
Imo, you are right, of course, but posters like Chris always infer that without religion and/or god then people would not do "good" things or have morals. It is then followed that religion and/or god is required to avoid the spontaneous combustion of the world.

You specifically stated "a column is not a row". I merely pointed out to you that it can be both when thought of differently, right?
Then seperated sin into "s", "i", and something about EN. I didn't follow that at all, so yeah guess what I said was silly. Maybe you could explain. I don't think one could locate sin even if you were to imply epigenetics here, i.e. specific chromatin states in a developing human embryo "genetic imprinting". Hmmm, I think I'm way off course here in the thread and maybe even what you were suggesting in the first place.

Absolutely, Brad. I have no problem agreeing to disagree on the gene idea. Have a great week
