god's fault? Maybe...
Since we have spun off topic, I may as well add this; I used to believe (not a Sunday christian), and the reason was is that I was looking for peace and love. My decisions to become a christian and to stop believing were not arbituary at all. They both required a great deal of thought, meditation and "faith". I am much happier now (and moral), have a much stronger (and EQUAL) relationship with my wife, more tolerant that I ever thought possible.
Life is good.

Obviously.

You know the answer to this. It is in your previous sentence.

I thought it was full of contradictions?
And this matters, why?

Thanks. I was just curious, not trying to be vindictive.

Re: JACK CHICK?!??
Yes, I am a satanic catholic. BTW, my question "Did the biblical god speak in King James?" was rhetorical... as far as the 10,000 refutations regarding the 10,000 missing links....[sigh], ok you win. I refuse to send 10,000 emails to anyone.
This has really been fun, but you are right; neither side will budge. I will not accept a god based on a bible that has a contradiction in EVERY chapter (yes, I'll send one a doc that I wrote that explains these, or you can go to: Skeptic's Annotated Bible / Quran / Book of Mormon ; by the way, this is not a skeptics bible, it is the KJV).
and neither will you accept rational truth based on the evidence.

Re: god's fault? Maybe...
Does everyone agree that GOd lied in the Garden? WAIT! I just remembered. Ezekiel 18:4 says"...the soul that sinneth, it shall die." How can a soul die? Maybe the death God talked about was not a drop dead on the spot death. This seems to point to a spiritual death. We define death as separation from the presence of God. Since most of you deny that Genesis is true anyway, this is really a pointless debate. Because, according to you, this NEVER took place. It's just another fairy tale. Did the sky really fall or was Chicken Licken imagining it?

There is no such thing as "King James". It's called Elizabethan English and the Thees and Thous were put in to show the difference between the singular and plural when referring to God.
You do know that no one ever spoke the English of the KJV? The grammar and vocabulary is a hodge-podge of language drawn from old translations and then modern English.

Re: JACK CHICK?!??
Isn't that a little off topic? If you want to discuss the history of the KJV I would be glad to.

Yes, it is. It is just a bit of trivia, really. We could discuss the KJV if you want. It isn't my favorite translation, but the most irritating thing about it is the number of KJV-only people there are.

"It is just a bit of trivia"
Isn't trivia based on facts? What facts support your comments about the KJV? Here's a bit of trivia: Where is the final residence of liars?

Re: JACK CHICK?!??
LOL, no that is the former residence. The answer is The Lake of Fire which is where Satan will be for making all of you who disbelieve the Bible belive his lies. Satan is the father of lies according to Jesus.

Jacques Barzun, "From Dawn to Decadence, Vol. 2." I am not sure what page because my copy is an audio book. Jacques Barzun, in case you are wondering, is an uncontraversially respected historian, as far as I can tell. He seems to be a decent source.
Bartleby.com:

Aren't said liars joined in that final residence by those who make false accusations?

Theologian,
My argument was backed up by a source, your was just your opinion. I think THAT is critical analysis.
Your argument was backed up by a logically invalid source. Since no one can be sure who the writers of Genesis were, whether it remains in it's original form, or whether the authors were experts in what they write, any argument that draws on the bible is logically flawed on the following grounds: argument from anonymous authority.
I'll go with the evidence that the universe has been in existence for ~15by, over an unverifiable book that no one really knows who wrote, whether they were telling the truth, that is actually contradicted by evidence. That's a theory that successfully predicted cosmological background radiation, right?
The evidence is that the universe is billions of years old, the bible reckons about 6k years. Surely the critical thinker you claim to be would go with the logically sound, evidentially consistent, & predictively correct theory?
