Liberty Island is the island home of the Statue of Liberty.
Heh, this is hilarious - Percy's pictures are all basically the first things I looked up when I discovered Google maps, too.

Anyone know how to find out when the sat images were taken
I googlemapped the apartment and town I used to live in; just north of my apartment I saw the big development project that included a Target and a minimall. The status of construction informed me that that particular image was from October of 2003.
Obviously some of the images are newer or older than that; there's no one date for all the images but I doubt many are older than a few years.

Re: Exploring New Territory
They're just there. Drag yourself over somewhere in the world and zoom. Hi-rez maps of Paris and London, for sure. Haven't checked much else (couldn't think of anything that would look good from space. I don't know enough to tell the Great Wall of China from a major road.)

Yep. Showin' yer age, crash!
Oh? How old do you think I am, exactly?
Here's what happened in my mind: "Hrm, a cartoonish stereotype of a mexican. It's not one I've ever seen, so it must be one that someone found offensive. Hey, don't I keep hearing about how the 'Frito Bandito' infuriated the hispanic communities?"
Seriously. Didn't even look it up to compare or anything. Just deduced. I'm all Sherlock and shit.

Omni's the closest so far, but, in the immortal words of Bob Barker, you've all overbid.
