There really isnt any debatse going on with anyone who takes this stance, you would have more success arguing with a turnip.
But these people do serve a few purposes. 1. They provide great entertainment.2. They strengthen the faith of the atheist. 3. They should make you feel very fortunate that you are in control of all your faculties. 4. They provide good case studies for psychology students. In all seriouness, these people are really to be pitied rather than laughed at. It is heartbreaking that we have adults in this day and age who swallow drivel like the Flood as if it actually happened, then almost strangle themselves with their cerebral cortex to keep their fantasy alive. Although it is embarrassing at times to read their posts, we should remember that these people are essentially desperate, lonely, sad individuals who need a higher power to take over the responsibility of their lives for them. How easy would it be to trust in a supreme 'Father' and leave everything up to Him rather than admit that you need to tackle life head on? My advice is to keep humouring them, it is a shame after all. Brian

You presumably have some objective evidence of this. Of course I do, but I don't humour these types any more. I just feel so sorry for them. Brian.

I'll let you off. But only this once okay Let me off what? You mean you will excuse me for daring to come to my own conclusions about something?

He refers to the part where you said you had evidence of your claims when you said that Christians were lonely people and all that stuff. I don't think I said that at all, you need to read my post again.
The point is that you said you had evidence but didnt cite it. I also gave the reason why.
Thats the same thing evo's constantly complain about with YEC assertions when they dont cite their evidence. I know, annoying isn't it? It also sort of makes any sort of 'debate' pointless. Cheers. Brian.

Well, I'm not a creationist, but I am a Christian and know many many creationists. Your description does not tally with the bulk of my experience. You need to get out more then.
So I would like to ask for your evidence. My experience is my evidence, and my word is final. Whatever I say is true and is not up for debate, I wont debate with anyone who does not first begin the discussion by accepting the premise that I am perfect and everythign I say is true, I won't discuss anything with anyone who says that my word is not true.
If I fall into one of your "types", and thus I am not to be humoured, then may I remind you that we are in an EvC science forum, and it is not for you to decide to withold a request for evidence. My infallible word is the evidence. Everything I say is true, I have never been shown to be wrong, if you look at it properly.
Either show your evidence or retract your statement. I've shown my evidence, you just have to accept that my word is flawless, if I say they are sad, and lonely then that isn't up for debate. Brian

No need to preface it with anything, I am always right.
I will not discuss anything with anyone who doesn't first accept that everything I say is true. Brian.

You state that YECs posting on this forum are essentially "sad" and "lonely". Not just at this forum, but all YEC's are sad and lonely, and deluded.
In a discussion on "Faith and other YEC: why even bother taking part in the discussion", how is this not ad hom? It isn't ad hom because I say so. I already gave you the criteria for this debate, how difficult can it be? Brian.

You are supposed to say "Cheers, Brian." I only say cheers when I have a drink in my hand Give me half an hour
I get sad and lonely when you leave the word "cheers" out of your signature! You mean you get sadder and lonelier Brian.

but the experience Oh THAT's what that means happens a lot. A lot of it is just plain indigestible at first too, makes no sense. It is called 'any port in a storm'. Truth is, when a fundy doesn't understand something in the Bible, or a part of the Bible appears to be untrue or impossible, the fundy will essentially grasp at any straw and when one straw comes along that appears plausible they will latch on to that and say "oh THAT's what it means". By taking this approach, we could take Lord of the Rings literally. Brian. This message has been edited by Brian, 09-17-2005 12:30 PM

A good Bible preacher/teacher has the Holy Spirit and may have years of study and practice, but still he usually relies on commentaries for help in teaching the Bible to his flock. He sometimes may disagree with them too. Are women excluded from this exclusive group of perfect preachers? Brian.

But in the case of preachers, the pastors of a congregation, I believe the Bible teaches clearly that that is a role reserved for men only. How would this stand with such prophetesses as Deborah, Miriam, Hulda, or Noadiah? Does God really speak to women knowing that they are not allowed to preach? This really doesn't make sense to me.
I know feminists consider this sexism, but it's about role, not about ability. Women are to use the same ability in other contexts. You mean like the ability to lead Israel in the way that Deborah did, or the way that Jael spiked Sisera's head? I don't think you give women enough credit, they are as capable as men, especially when it comes to preaching which requires no real physical exertion. Christian men must feel so powerful to know that they have a nice slave at home waiting for them. Anyway, I do not see how you can harmonise the belief that women are not to preach, the Bible certainly doesn't support it being a male only area. Brian.
