I'd like to agree that Mod's post was a very well-presented, rational analysis of the effects of gun-ownerhsip, even though I disagree with his conclusion.

Here and there I find members complimenting other members about the good quality of their messages. Shouldn't a few POTM's be coming out of this?
Side note: Of course, topic drift problems persist at the various topics. People - Try to keep the topic theme in mind and have your messages connect to that theme. Also, how about relevant message subtitles? We have at least two topics that are running a string of subtitles along the lines of "Re: Could we get back on topic?". Chances are good that the conversation has absolutely nothing to do with the possibilities of getting back on topic. NO REPLIES TO THIS MESSAGE. DOING SUCH MIGHT NET YOU A SUSPENSION. Adminnemooseus

Message 96 RAZD's posts are always so well researched and so comprehensive it is difficult to cite any single one for commendation, but I'm going to do it anyway. Excellent slam dunk. Thanks anglagard, unfortunately the post will likely be (has been?) ignored by Archangel.

Why are there no human apes alive today? caffeine Take the sperm whale. It's very well adapted to life in the sea, so by your reckoning it's features must be advanced. However, if you put a sperm whale in the middle of the Kalahari, it wouldn't last five minutes. There are spotted hyaenas in the Kalahari who are very well adapted, and get by just fine. Given that these would survive will, and the sperm whale would die rapidly, the hyaena must have more advanced features than the whale, by your description. If we threw a hyena into the sea a few hundred miles from the Azores, though, it would drown. The sperm whale is happy as larry here, so it must be more advanced than the hyaena. But then we've already established that the hyena is more advanced than the whale... The solution to this dilemma is simply that it doesn't make sense to discuss one as being more advanced than the other. Enjoy. by our ability to understand Rebel American Zen Deist ... to learn ... to think ... to live ... to laugh ... to share. • • • Join the effort to solve medical problems, AIDS/HIV, Cancer and more with Team EvC! I am nominating Grey Seal for pointing out the blatantly obvious conclusion drawn from 32 pages and 486 posts of absolute gibberish and inane geocentric crap spewed out by the illustrious not-so-Smooth Operator in Relativity is wrong:

you won't understand it because SO's "model" is a gibbering, cretinous lump of wack. The reason, after 32 pages, that nobody understand his model yet still knows it is wrong is because it is so abhorrently amorphously cretinously ridiculously inconsistent from moment to moment. first *everything* rotates around the earth. Then mars is orbiting the sun. then mars is "following" the sun. then there's a delay. then everything is spinning, but not the earth, then...god knows what. pink unicorns probably. Greyseal mentioned that this is a fine post and I agree, so I'm putting it up here.

Thank you Granny for the nomination.
It is an honor to be recognized by the forum to which I owe so much of my current understanding of the evolution debate. -Meldinoor

It keeps getting better and better. RAZD's particular opponent may not appreciate the extent of the information on offer but there are others who do.

I 2nd and 3rd and 4th.... and 29th and ... that!
To make up for the posts of RAZD that are not nominated and should be. I'm inclined to suggest that sylas (sadly missed) and RAZD are our two best posters ever. There are a handful of others that are in my top ten and still posting too. (Rahvin, Dr A and Mod being three of them)

I was reading through the message thinking what excellent it was and how clear. A definite POTM.
The he adds one line at the end that, by itself, is POTMable.
Ultimately, "do unto others..." isn't a religious doctrine; it is an ecological imperative. The post would be perfect with a more clearly thought out post title.
