I respond to your Jefferson with this:
quote: And, of course, the one in my signature, which relates to the trinity. Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. -- Thomas Jefferson We see monsters where science shows us windmills. -- Phat It has always struck me as odd that fundies devote so much time and effort into trying to find a naturalistic explanation for their mythical flood, while looking for magical explanations for things that actually happened. -- Dr. Adequate ...creationists have a great way to detect fraud and it doesn't take 8 or 40 years or even a scientific degree to spot the fraud--'if it disagrees with the bible then it is wrong'.... -- archaeologist

It appears to be the same logic as applied by Douglas Adams regarding the babel fish (my emphasis added):

I don't get it. Truth denies faith and without faith religions die. Apologies to Douglas Adams.

I actually picked it because I liked the sound of it. Style over content.

The actual quote is a little bit different. The gist is the same, but I am a stickler for historical accuracy.

Hi, Dwise.
Since this is a thread about quotes, I figured it would be appropriate to provide the exact quote from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy:
quote: -Bluejay (a.k.a. Mantis, Thylacosmilus) Darwin loves you.

"I quite agree with you. And the moral of that is: Be what you would seem to be, or if you'd like it put more simply: Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise." -- The Duchess

I can’t explain myself, I’m afraid, Sir, because I’m not myself, you see. -Alice

I don't really see your point in argueing a different take on a quote that is well over 700 years old ... I didn't realize there was statute of limitations on being silly. Would it be OK for me to comment on it if it had been written yesterday?

Stephen Colbert writes: "And though I am a committed Christian, I believe that everyone has the right to their own religion, be you Hindu, Jewish or Muslim. I believe there are infinite paths to accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior." George Washington writes:

Dougie Adams writes:
There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

That one came immediately to mind the moment I saw the sub-title.
To which I add:
Robert Colbert on NPR writes: It is a well-known fact that reality has a definite liberal bias. Edited by dwise1, : No reason given.
