Everyone does it
Here is the map put out during the 2004 election campaign by the Democratic Leadership Committee:
Nobody is encouraging violence with this type of map.
Illiteracy maybe (note the spelling of "mountain" in the bottom line).

Re: Palin is an idiot, but....
...and I still won;t advocate shooting such an immoral asshole, because the very notion of murdering someone because they disagree with you is counter to the entire spirit of the Freedom of Speech, even aside from the fact that you shouldn't advocate killing people in general, because killing people is pretty high up on the "wrong" scale.
And your opinion on all the death threads Palin is now getting because of the lefties and their lies?

Media blew it (again)
Why are we all assuming that he was right-wing and listened to the Tea Party?
Because that's what the left-wing media, and others such as the idiot sheriff, started telling us within a couple of hours after the shootings.

Re: Media blew it (again)
And all the crying about crosshairs on a map. (Those crosshairs look more like surveyors' crosshairs than those in a rifle scope.)
The left put out pictures of Bush with crosshairs superimposed a few years back.
But that's forgotten now, eh?

Right, and in the US, that's true. ...
Do you really believe that only the right uses "dangerous rhetoric?"
Really?

Re: Time for some balance
Google images for "kill Bush." The left was full of hate speech and death treats during his tenure in office.
And don't forget the gentleman arrested in Arizona this past weekend for the "You're dead" comment to the local Tea Party leader.
In fact, I would venture that the loony left has far more examples of hate speech than the right. But because the left is always right, and because their positions are so righteous, their political opponents deserve whatever they get, eh?
I think you are just willfully blinded to what is actually out there by your own bias.

Re: Time for some balance
Please define "hate speech".
How about this?
New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi, introducing Senator Schumer at a college commencement:
The man who, how do I phrase this diplomatically, who will put a bullet between the president's eyes if he could get away with it.

Re: Time for some balance
I also missed the definition of "hate speech", which is what I asked for.
Not interested enough to bother.
Please explain what it is, and if it is or is not protected by my favorite amendment.
Virtually everything is protected except the notorious "Fire!" in a crowded theater.
My interest here has been countering the statement by Crash that only the right uses "dangerous rhetoric".
I have shown that to be totally incorrect.

Re: Time for some balance
No, you've not show anything but examples of intemperate rhetoric from a fringe that even the far left disavows.
OK, how about these?

Seems to be a lot of "leftist fringe" out there, eh?

I can keep this up all night. Examples of lefties and their hate speech are legion.
This is just to remind folks that this type of hate speech is far more common on the left than on the right.
Those on the right far more often don't protest at all! But all of that is starting to change, and that's probably why there is so much concern from the left. They don't own the streets any more! There are more media out there than they can control!
Those on the right are starting to fight back, and the lefties don't like that at all!
Now why don't we all take this forum back to the issues it is meant for, the EvC discussion? I will if you will.

Still more?
August 1, 2004: The Craig Kilborn show superimposes "Snipers Wanted" over a photo of President George W. Bush.
Here's another example of a leftie's political "discussion."
Feeling warm and fuzzy yet? There's a lot more.
Lefties have been doing this for years. It is only lately that folks are challenging them for it.

Then there is always the lefties' old favorite:
Had enough yet?
Crash, are you ready to admit you were wrong when you claimed all the "dangerous" rhetoric was on the right?
