Why are we all assuming that he was right-wing and listened to the Tea Party?
Because that's what the left-wing media, and others such as the idiot sheriff, started telling us within a couple of hours after the shootings. That's true. People are calling for that Sherriffs resignation. He came right out with speculation, on camera, and then totally flip-flopped it to the opposite. It went from Loughner having an accomplice and having done stuff like this before to this being his first time and he did it alone.

I am more curious about how he was affected by the overtly violent rhetoric that the Tea Party was putting out. Perhaps he wasn't affected at all, I don't know. However, it is still irresponsible to push a political agenda with threats of violence. Hopefully, this is a wake up call for the Tea Party. Why are we all assuming that he was right-wing and listened to the Tea Party? Because that's what the left-wing media, and others such as the idiot sheriff, started telling us within a couple of hours after the shootings. That's actually a complete lie. Nobody's asserted that Sarah Palin gave this guy marching orders - WTF?
merely that conservative assassination rhetoric has fostered an environment where these events are sadly predictable. The "prediction" was simply that there'd be consequences. Its not as predictable as your making it out to be.
I'm sorry that you're feeling so deeply ashamed and defensive, Coyote, but defending your side isn't so important that you have to tell lies about this tragedy. Physician. Heal thyself! From Message 43:
Why? Remember, we're talking about someone crazy. Well then we could just as well speculate about how much The Itchy and Scratchy Show influenced him instead of conservative taglines. If fact, that is the point being made in this thread.

And all the crying about crosshairs on a map. (Those crosshairs look more like surveyors' crosshairs than those in a rifle scope.)
The left put out pictures of Bush with crosshairs superimposed a few years back. But that's forgotten now, eh?

Until then, "right wing political rhetoric" has far more power to twist susceptible minds into doing undesirable things.
Really? Are you forgetting the hair-metal days where everyone wore spandex, tight shirts and the gayest hair imaginable? Remember Poison?! Whitesnake?! Surely this is worse than any affect right-wing rhetoric has...even if 10 Congress people were shot...the affects of hair-metal are worse. - Oni

For the same reasons that Palin assumed it, which is why she sterilized her tweets and websites. Non sequitor.
It's a rather obvious connection.
What do you know about Loughlin that makes it so obvious? Some of the stuff about him goes against being a conservative. He's apparently an atheist, in that one of his youtube video says he refuses to put trust in God. One of his favorite books was the Communist Manifesto. His favorite youtube video was of an American flag burning. There's the tweets from people who knew him that say that he was left-wing.

Wud up dude. In the US he would be considered far-left or ultra-left. Remember "left-wing" here in the US is the common term for most center-left democrats. Although you are using it the right way because it was original a term coined for socialist or communist, others may interpret it wrong because here it became generalized. Just saying... - Oni Edited by onifre, : No reason given.

Jodie Foster should not have gone on TV and said that someone should "shoot Reagan." I've never heard this version, do you have a link? The story I had always heard was basically the same one reported on Wiki . Reagan wasn't even his first attempt to get Foster's attention, Carter was. Hinckley had been obsessed with Foster since Taxi Driver.

Nonsense. So, on top of it all, you want to restrict free speech? Are people not responsible for what comes out of their mouth?

What do you know about Loughlin that makes it so obvious? The obviousness of the connection is the circumstance. A Democrat, who happened to be the focus of the Tea Party, beats out her Tea Party opponent and is then gunned down. The first conclusion you jump to is that the gunman is probably a Tea Party sympathizer who is obviously nucking futs. That initial conclusion may very well be wrong, but it is the obvious conclusion that everyone is starting from.

And all the crying about crosshairs on a map. (Those crosshairs look more like surveyors' crosshairs than those in a rifle scope.) It needs to be put in context. The heading at the top also talks about "Prescribing the solution", and then we see crosshairs on certain spots on the map, and all of this on the website of a self described gun enthusiast. I think we can all agree that it is in poor taste, at best.
The left put out pictures of Bush with crosshairs superimposed a few years back. Which is very irresponsible. Who did this, out of curiosity?

And all the crying about crosshairs on a map. (Those crosshairs look more surveyors' crosshairs than those on a rifle scope.) Yeah I'm sure that's the message Palin wanted to send. "Watch out Democrats! The surveyors are coming after you!" Please...could that cover story be any more lame?
The left put out pictures of Bush with crosshairs superimposed a few years back. And? That was wrong, too. I'm so sick of right-wingers and their infantile responses to criticism which essentially boil down to "well, they started it! They do it, too!" Why do conservatives interpret an across the board call for less violent rhetoric as a personal affront? As an attack? Guilty conscience?

When lefties show up to Palin rallies packing heat in order to intimidate Palin and her followers let us know. I attended the rallies of both Kerry and Bush. I was attacked and physically assaulted (with my kids there!) both times. Both times it was by Progressives. That's not an isolated incident either. As with anything else on planet earth, violent people can be found anywhere and in any group. "Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it" -- Thomas Paine

quote: Because that's what the left-wing media, and others such as the idiot sheriff, started telling us within a couple of hours after the shootings. A more accurate description is that Loughner is neither a right-winger or a leftist, but an anarchist. He burned flags on YouTube and complained that the government was trying to control him. But even more accurately is he's just a crazy loonbat! "Reason obeys itself; and ignorance submits to whatever is dictated to it" -- Thomas Paine

Remember "left-wing" here in the US is the common term for most center-left democrats. Yeah, well... left-wing none-the-less.
Although you are using it the right way because it was original a term coined for socialist or communist, others may interpret it wrong because here it became generalized. I hate politics and the goofy-ass definitions it uses.
