In the science fiction novel Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Charles Sheffields, humanity will evolve into composites where large numbers of people are linked together for problem solving purposes. Problems are solved almost instantaneous because every time a problem emerges there are billions of brains working together to come up with a solution.
