I'm not going to insist that science is all right all the time but when it comes to choosing sides in the ultimate "How did it all start?" debate, to me science offers the path to the truth.
In my opinion the Bible and all other religious texts are unreliable for the following reasons.
1: The words you read where written by humans. Humans lie and I would challenge anyone to tell me truthfully they have never lied.
2: The claims of religious texts are never "black and white" so inevitably and unquestionably WILL be misinterpreted.
(We know that through translation from one language to another and through passage of time the intended meaning of any given word can change)
3: It is widely accepted that the Bible is a collection of different stories written by different people so to hold it as truth is to implicitly trust numerous people who may or may not have even intended people to hold their stories as truth. And (going back to my first point) may or may not have intentionally fabricated these stories for their own benefit (power and control for example)
Science on the other hand makes no request that you trust its claims. In fact quite the opposite, the shared opinions of the scientific community are always changing based on evidence that in most cases can be verified by anyone who might bother to try.
Alongside the fact that science has proved religion wrong at every turn despite the churches attempts to silence scientists. (Galileo Galilei and the Earth revolving around the sun for example)
As for Creation Vs Evolution; in my opinion evolution holds closest to the truth.
In closing I'll leave you to consider;
What kind of god would create a planet/universe of such delicate beauty, then unleash such destructive beasts to do as they will.
