It's interesting that you "believe" something with very little evidence and then demand "proof" before you'll accept that it's a hoax.
A better policy would be "false until proven true". Accept nothing until you see good evidence. And always be prepared to reject it again if new evidence appears.
Falsification trumps confirmation.
