Congratulations and welcome to the club!!!
Hi Jazzns,
Congratulations!!! I joined the club of the happy and sleepless in January. My daughter just learned the tricks of smiling and laughing about a week ago. It's a great trick for her since she can get me and her mother to do just about anything she wants with it.
Enjoy the time...you won't believe how fast they change even when you see them every day.
Added to note; Welcome to the "transitional" club as well

Also, in my limited (7.5 week) experience ..a baby will scream for a reason. Whether it be he is hungry or needs a diaper change. My wife and I have also found that if our daughter has an intense day i.e. meets a lot of new people/ sees a lot of new faces, she tends to have a crying fit in the evening. As if she has to work off the stress of so much novelty. But that will also fade with time as the baby gets used to social interactions...for my part, I live for my baby girl smiling at me.

By the way jazzns..how are things going with Dante? New father experience on my side, little one does not like immunizations..had her first last week, ran a fever, and was really unhappy for two days.
But has started to attempt to talk (or at least make sounds while staring at you intensely)...long conversations with her mother..also is getting a bigger catalog of different laughs...she even laughs at my jokes (perhaps the first evidence of a miracle or at least scientifically unexplainable fact?)

Glad to hear all is well with your son. I also wondered about hep b. I had to have it as an adult because I work with human and non-human cell culture and tissues...and the vaccine knocked me on my butt for a few days...much worse for a baby. Not really sure where a baby would pick it up unless they needed a transfusion.
My daughter is 11 weeks old today. She was doing all sorts of strange mimics from day one including smiling randomly when she slept. about 5 weeks ago she started smiling intentionally..now she laughs like crazy when something amuses her. She also really tries to communicate but only with my wife. With me she just laughs...probably the way it will be for the rest of my life
She also sticks her tongue out..for some reason, her favorite thing is if I stick my tongue out at her and yell blah!
That is really good that your son is pushing up. Does he enjoy it or does he get angry when you put him face down? My daughter hated it at first but now she can raise her head and look around and tries to crawl a bit so she enjoys it...but in general, if she cannot see my face or my wife, she gets upset....funny, that is exactly the opposite of my students
