Rrhain,Thanks for taking your time in writing this up.Am I getting this right?It wasn't Al Gore's vision or initiative that was directly responsible for inventing "internets" (i.e. the idea of connecting computers using some (here unspecified) architecture).It wasn't Al Gore's vision or initiative that was directly responsible for inventing "an internet" (i.e. ARPANet, related systems?).It WAS Al Gore's initiative that brought about the idea of THE Internet "as we know it today" (you said "It was directly because of Al Gore that anybody ever thought that this might be useful for something other than military use.").I didn't know that Al Gore was responsible for these things.
