I mean I have a fairly decent collection, all I need is the power cards lol. When I was into it I knew all the lingo the types, the rules, restricted cards etc. Even how to play lol. I barely remember any of it, I bet I could barely play now. But those cards are worth alot, and I remember saying this is more strategic than chess, so when I get old, and if I actually want a new hobby I might go back to magic and pick up those crazily expensive pieces of card board. I felt like a warrior when I played and I think that's part of the reason why so many play.

peace

Really? I felt like a chump: "Once again, another mouth-breather wrecks my carefully constructed deck not because he's a better player than me, but because he's beating me over the head with his $20 rares."

Goody, I can name drop!
Have you ever heard or read of somebody named Brad Weier?
He does a lot of game reviews for Cheapass games and hangs with a lot of those folks at conventions.
Anyhow, he's been one of my husband's closest friends since they were both 5 years old.

Huh, I wish. There's not a lot of con activity out here in flyover country. GenCon's a little closer to the Twin Cities, I guess - Milwakee, isn't it? - but I never made it - was always busy.
Now that I live in Missouri, though, it's even worse. I think there might be a LARP convention or something; maybe something in St. Louis. We'll see, I guess.

Crash, ever heard of them? My friend Brad plays Icehouse and Fluxx.

Oh, yeah, I've heard of Fluxx. I've never played it ("flux" is an old term for "diarrhea" so the game doesn't sound like much fun to me ) but I have a friend who swears it's awesome.

Psi Ops

I have tried since pales in comparison.
I had a similar experience with a PS2 game called Psi Ops. Since I played it, all third person shooters up to and including Metal Gear Solid(just the first one) are no fun to play anymore. I just can't get any thrill out of shooting enemies with a rifle when I could be controlling their minds or making them suddenly burst into flames.
Plus, the theme song is really awesome. I never though Cold could go about the task of NOT making crappy music, but I was enlightened.

Oh, here's an awesome party game - Guillotine, the game based on the French Revolution where you collect the heads of nobles, which have different values. You can play cards to change the order of the line in ways advantageous to yourself, or play cards to prevent other people from playing cards or getting the heads they want.
Is it a Steve Jackson game? I rather think it is... oops, I was wrong again. It's a Pauk Peterson game put out by WotC.
Speaking of Steve Jackson, any role-players in the house? Does anyone else hate GURPS as much as I do?

I am looking forward to Fable. It is a roleplaying game where one aspect of character development is learning to punt chickens and to drink heavily...kind of like living on a French farm but with weapons.

Not entirely unlike my apartment a couple years ago.
