Does it embarrass any of the American non-Christians that many casual observers may think that you are all as weird as these numbnuts?
As a Christian, I see the continued perversion of Christianity as a very sad phenomenon. It's nothing new, it can be seen historically in the action of Christian Missionaries who have traditionally been the source of much oppression and many of the most embarrassing events in history. It would be nice if I could say it's otherwise but that is simply not the case.
Finally, and this may be a topic for a new thread, but what reaosns would you give for what I have heard others call a rise in the number of fundies in the USA.
I'm not sure that it's a rise as much as a normal cycle. When people become frightened they tend to herd together like wildebeests, to form a defensive circle, facing outwards against the imagined threat. This is the picture of much of Christianity today, and actually, throughout history. The problem is that when the herd reaches a certain point, they stampede, trampling all in their way, the threat as well as anything else in their path.
