It's a catchy idea (light speed bubble), that has a nice visual element to it (stretching spaceships).
I think it's a winner even if you can't find a mathematical basis for it.

It might be fun to imagine how such technology might transfer into colloquial speech.
For example,
"Let's stretch over to Planet Gaag!
or
"Engage the bubble-drive, Chief!"
As you can tell, I'm no sci-fi writer.
