is there anyway to update our personal bookmarks to change from old forum to new? I have a Perl script which performs the conversion automatically. You'd have to change to read your files instead of the forum's message files, but otherwise it should work fine for you. Would you like me to email you a copy?

Asgara writes: under Find Members - I can search by user name and email address but can't by number of posts, date registered, status, or any of the filters in the first set. I get Internal Server Errors on each of them. Thanks for finding this one. This should be fixed now.
No one below director status can do any of the message management tasks that we use to be able to do such as changing thread titles. I commented on this a couple days ago, saying that changing thread titles can be done by editing message 1. But I need to know what other features you used to use under message management.

Hi Quetzal!
Sorry to alarm you with the order change. The change was unintentional. I see Moose has already addresses this issue, so I'll just explain how this happened. Users can now set the order through their profile, but of course initially users have no setting, and by accident the default was the inverse of what I intended. This is fixed now and the default is chronological order for messages.

Ben writes: 1. If you click "forgot your password" when you're NOT logged in, you get a 500 error. NOT HELPFUL! This is fixed.
2. If you click on a URL with a bookmark from an email, but are not logged in, you are given the login screen. If you then login, you are forwarded to the original URL--but SANS the bookmark. So you're brought to the top of the page, instead of the proper message. I'll look into this when I get a chance, but there may be nothing I can do. URLs are passed to the server, bookmarks are not - they're handled locally by the browser. In other words, the board software never sees the bookmark. I've looked at ways to get JavaScript to do the page positioning but haven't discovered a way to do it yet that doesn't involve an investment of effort way out of proportion to the benefit. Of course, if someone can find an example of a solution, that makes it much easier.

Ben writes: As far as I can tell, ALL links (both those on the sidebar as well as those in the text) are completely outdated in the FAQ page. This was a "Doh!" I think all links to pages of this website are now correct, but let me know if you come across others.

The URL goes outside the tags when you use [img] tags, e.g.:
[img]Not Found[/img] keep the change

Ben writes: Run the search function, and you get some message results. But if you click the link to the message, you get the right page, but since there's no bookmark on the URL to the specific message, you have to page down to find the proper message. I might have mentioned this already, but if not, I *was* able to reproduce this, and the search results now have bookmarks.

RAZD writes: no word on the button contrast? black on the pale blue buttons would be better, but red would draw the eye, and that would be good for the {reply} button. Button design is tough, so I can offer no relief in the near term. In the longer term I plan to add user control of the board's appearance, which would include the buttons. I can't make any promises, but if you'd like to try your hand at button design, send me a button set and if they're good enough and mesh well with the board's current appearance I'll consider using them.

The "new bug found" rate seems to be decreasing. Either that or the sheer volume has exhausted the testers! Anyway, thanks for all the help!

When you reply to a message, the message you're replying to is displayed at the bottom of the page. A button to select "Peek Mode" has been added to this message. Click on "Peek Mode" and the message will be displayed with all the dBCodes and HTML used by the author.

I wonder if {percy could implement \ admins could administer} a lock on off-topic posts to prevent replies (or to tunnel them to a new topic, say in coffeehouse, or short topics, so that it is open for comments). maybe the posts could be "closed" similar to the closing of whole threads? What a great idea! I'll put this on my list. In case anyone is wondering what I'm working on, here are the things at the top of my list:
I'm curious about how well the "unread messages" indicator that appears in the left hand column of forum and thread lists is working for people. There were some complaints when this went away early this year (it went away because I thought it worked poorly, but apparently some people liked it), and I'm curious how well the new behavior is working out for people.

RAZD writes: I'm curious about how well the "unread messages" indicator that appears in the left hand column of forum and thread lists is working for people. it's not. or it isn't operating in real-time anyway: I usually look at the number of my last post compared to the total to see if there is activity, and I often find the activity is a reply. What do you see happening? If you're looking at the list of threads for a forum, do you see blue dots next to threads you that have unread messages? If you do, then what happens when you click on the thread and read it, then you return to the forum by clicking on the forum's link. Doesn't the blue dot go away? You can't just click on the back button, because that doesn't refresh the page.
same with e-mail so far (no notices since the new version of the board). This seems to be working for me. Is anyone else missing their email notification?
