A few years ago I was on a
Library computer when I got a popup from the "Canadian Police Service" (an organization I have never heard of). It claimed that I had been caught doing "one of the following" - child pornography, Internet fraud, etc. and my computer would be frozen until I paid a fine, I think it was $500, by PayPal. Sure enough, the keyboard didn't work, the mouse didn't work, Ctrl+Alt+Delete didn't work. (I don't know how they expected me to access PayPal.)
So I pressed the Reset button and the computer restarted.
