I suppose this should go in the Bible Errancy section. I watched the Discovery Channel debut of the discovery of what is suggested to be Jesus and his family's final resting place. This surely raises an interesting scenario.
If true, this does several things:
1. It establishes that there was such a man as Jesus of Nazareth which heretofore was doubted in many circles.
2. It establishes a significant assurance that some of the records in the Synoptic Gospels of the New Testament are far more accurate than previously believed.
3. It supports the theory that Jesus was married and had children and was obviously more mortal than his legend portrayed.
4. It obliterates the Son of God thing and the ascension story which is the cornerstone of beliefs for billions of people.
My question is what will it do for the traditional foundation of Christianity and can the churches recover from this broadside?
