I agree. And I think Matthew would have agreed as well.

John was certainly later and Paulian material was still later.
Are you suggesting that Paul's writings were written after the gospels????????
Or, have I missed something?
Brian.

I'm suggesting that the compilation of the Pauline documents probably came later. Paul's Epistles really were letters written to particular congregations. They most likely were found and acknowledged only in those areas. While the actual writing most likely predates the Gospels, the general distribution of them probably came later, perhaps much later.

Hi,GDR.
I didn`t give the full quotation because the sting comes in the tail.
That is such a good question. It should be its own thread. The whole quote from 2nd Timothy is," All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
'Useful' to me doesn`t denote obligatory, compulsory or inerrant. Yet we have Christians using Scripture like it is the be-all and end-all of discussion. 'God said this so you better shape up or there`s Hell to pay'. 'Correcting and training' sounds like an on-going process, guiding the way of development, not an end to questions. End result---thoroughly equipped for good work. Timescale? Who knows? Certainly enough work needed by the believer to keep him/her busy for life. Too busy to say to non-believers "I`m right, you`re wrong.'

Recent Invention of Hindus

Totally off topic. Please do not reply to this message

Dear Friend:
You are "foaming out your shame" with your wild and untrue statements.
1) Hinduism - c. 1500 BC.
2) Adam - c. 4148 BC.
3) Noah's 600th year - c. 2492 BC.
4) Promise to Abram - c. 2065 BC.
5) Israel's Exodus from Egypt - c. 1635 BC.
6) Moses' death - c. 1594 BC.
The Atheists have always claimed that the pagan religions were first; but the archeologists have all dated them later than Bible people.
You are bringing shame on your family.
The Date for Hinduism is from Modern Reference Encyclopedia, 1967.
They date Abraham 19th century BC.
That is long before Hinduism - 1500 BC.
