The problem with the Shroud is that it's in a class of its' own. At least the polarized "negatives" are. Wasn't there an early investigation concerned with the Turin Shroud image formation Why question the original microscopic evidence when a man at the very top of his field was asked to examine it and he found without a doubt that it was a fake - they weren't blood stains, but an iron compound (from a "medieval paint recipe") Maybe, just maybe, people like William Meacham instead of harping on about the fiasco of the C-14 dating of 1988 or going on about the chemicals used in the 2002 Restoration could just let it go
