Author | Topic: How Does Republican Platform Help Middle Class? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

That is the Republican version of health care reform. I can see why this benefits the rich and health insurance investors, but how does this help middle class Americans? Same as the answer to the thread title: it doesn't. Jon Check out No webpage found at provided URL: Apollo's Temple! Ignorance is temporary; you should be able to overcome it. - nwr

As much as I appreciate the spotlight that Moore can shine on issues that need attention I just wish it wasn't Moore. His movies are like a fleck of gold in a mound of dog shit. More like the opposite.

As much as I appreciate the spotlight that Moore can shine on issues that need attention I just wish it wasn't Moore. His movies are like a fleck of gold in a mound of dog shit. Agreed. I actually just watched it, so it was fresh in my mind. Throughout most of the movie, I was thinking to myself "ok, good/great point Micheal, but why oh why are you being such an imbecile about making said point?"
but how does this help middle class Americans? It doesn't, but socialist nazi communists are fucking scary, man. That's what Democrats are. Jokes aside, it doesn't really appear as though they actually have any promises that are for the lower/middle class. Take Scott Walker for example. He promised jobs. What he didn't say was that he was going to destroy jobs first in order to make room for those jobs. Also, IMO, the Dems are seen (by "working class", middle earth...er, I mean, middle america) as the elite snobs. Republicans are seen as wholesome good ole boys with good christian values. You also have to take into consideration the idea that most have: "it's my money, I worked hard for it, keep your gub'ment hands off it". There has to be a balance between what the government takes and what the productive keep to grow the economy and create jobs. Grow the economy and create jobs! Hallelujah! Let the wealth come a-tricklin' down... We'll all be waitin' with our mouths wide open when it gets hereif we ain't dead from thirst before then. If you can't see the difference between these two concepts then you are probably a socialist who thinks that you can keep taking from the productive forever, and get away with it. What matters is what you get out of it. If I am paying 500 dollars a month to a health insurance company and get limited health care when I can pay 200 dollars a month in extra taxes and get much better health care wouldn't I be better off under a socialist plan? What does the middle class get out of Republican policies? Even under Republican policies there are still taxes (i.e. money be taken away from you forcibly). Edited by Taq, : No reason given. Socialists generally want to get all the golden eggs, often by force, and that simply doesn't work. So let me get this straight: if you're not a republican, you're a socialist communist. You just got finished watching Glenn Beck, didn't you? Godwins Law in 3....2.....1...... "What can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof."-Hitch.

How long do you think the folks who actually create and produce things will continue to do so when most of what they create and produce is taken away by force and given to those who do neither? How fortunate it is that there's not the remotest chance of that happening.

You don't want the economy grown and jobs created? What do you want, the nanny state to care for you, cradle to grave? And what are you willing to give up to get that?

No. Because somebody has to pay that $300 difference. There is no such thing as a free lunch. That's one thing that socialists never learn.

You don't want the economy grown and jobs created? What do you want, the nanny state to care for you, cradle to grave? And what are you willing to give up to get that? Why can't we have social programs and a growing economy? Why does a growing economy require us to fire teachers at public schools while giving multimillion dollar CEO's a tax break, as well as the companies they work for? Other countries with social health care have had booming economies, so why can't we do it?

No. Because somebody has to pay that $300 difference. Yes, those who are better able to afford that increase. If they don't like it then they can take a lower wage and pay less in taxes.

What do you want, the nanny state to care for you, cradle to grave? Nanny State? Oh, like how all the banks were bailed out, free market be damned, right? THAT nanny state? Where's MY bailout when I bankrupt MY company. Where's MY multi-million dollar bonus when I destroy the country? THAT nanny state? The title says it all. How does the Republican platform help the middle class? How do major tax cuts to the top 5% of wage earners help the middle class? How does cutting taxes and cutting social programs help? How does repealing a law that prevents insurance companies from revoking insurance for sick kids help the middle class? How does banning abortions help the middle class? How does the fight against labor unions improve the middle class? How does the defunding of Planned Parenthood and the EPA help the middle class? How does a reduction in social security and medicare help the middle class? What confuses me is how people like me (lower middle class) benefit from the laws and reforms that Republicans want to put in place. Can someone show me the light? Well, I think this thread has made it all clear. Republican policies keep you from being eaten by the imaginary socialist boogieman who lives under Coyote's bed.

No. Because somebody has to pay that $300 difference. No, because socialized health care is, for obvious reasons, more efficient.
