As I followed your thread on Geology I found nothing to object to as a YEC until very late in the thread. Fact.

Fact remains: 90% or more of the actual work done in the sciences is perfectly acceptable to a YEC.

Anybody's being wrong about anything doesn't change the fact that 90% of all the scientific work done is quite acceptable to YECs.

You mean 100%. You accept what scientific knowledge brings you, you simply say that it's wrong. Weird stuff denial. No I meant 90%, a guess at how much of the science is uncontaminated with Old Earth / evolutionist assumptions. About that much of Dr. A's Geology Course was good stuff from a YEC point of view so I figure roughly the same for the other sciences. Of course in practice, especially in popular accounts in the biological sciences, you can hardly find a simple factual statement, it's all distorted by fantastic age assumptions among other things. But you can ferret out the uncontaminated facts if you work at it. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

Too much to ask. My general statement is good enough. Wherever facts are presented without the usual ridiculous ancient age suppositions attached to them, a YEC has no problem with them.

I didn't read the link you posted at all, because it is too much to ask that I review a whole course in Geology to confirm my impression that 90% of the sciences are no problem for a YEC. And that IS the impression I got from your very own Geology course here, though I know you don't like that and would much prefer that your own statistic be the case.

Your 90% is therefore nonsense; when a scientist describes the molecular structure of a chimp's DNA or a rock's chemical composition you have no concerns, but as soon as we form any useful conclusions and comparisons between other animals and rock formations that would harm your own pet theory, you disagree. And you disagree 100% of the time. Certainly I disagree with those supposedly "useful conclusions and comparisons" that aren't useful at all, certainly not in biology, and only because somehow they are pressed into service in the oil industry are they used in Geology, though their necessity may be questioned there as well. But that's only a small part of the sciences in question really, 100% disagreement with five or ten percent.
That's daft enough, but you go one step further and make the ludicrous claim that your non-scientific beliefs are compatible with science. That's just crazy. Funny, it's simply fact. YECs have no problem with real science, true science, useful science, although you dislike the fact intensely. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

There haven't been any other YECs posting here for some time. The current crop of other Creationists are not YECs.

Actually I define real science as science that actually works in this world. There's a lot of that. The stuff you want to include is all mental conjurings with no useful purpose.

Makes you wonder how we build stuff that works. That's precisely what I don't wonder about at all because that's what REAL science does, builds stuff that works. It's the fantastic stuff that has nothing to do with reality that I reject, the supposed ancient age of the earth and the supposed evolution of all life forms from millions of years ago. And not just because of my religion, simply because it's idiotic. It's unprovable for one thing, can't be proved, and is nothing but conjecture from beginning to end although it's treated as Fact by Science. And it has nothing whatever to do with what science is able to build that works. Which someday even all you here will know. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Unfortunately, Faith, you ought to have a problem with all science. Not one branch of science recognises your personal opinion as having any special value. It's not the conclusions that are the real issue - it's the methodology. Sorry, I have no problem with the real sciences, including scientific methodology. I was in high school when the Sputnik science craze was going on and we got an indoctrination in the principles and history and value of science that couldn't possibly be outshone by any or all of you at EvC, and I never lost any of that although I never pursued science myself. Evolution, however, is ABOUT THE PAST, it is NOT SCIENCE AS REAL SCIENCE is SCIENCE, the kind of science that can be replicated in the laboratory, that produces things, that builds things and so on. I laugh right back at the laughing ones who can't tell the difference.

Foreveryoung capitulated to the usual mental acrobatics, sad. It is possible to be a Geologist and remain true to the Biblical Young Earth; Kurt Wise has done it. He's wrong that there is sufficient evidence but by conceding it while expecting it eventually to be falsified he's permitted himself to live in both worlds.
I began having doubts about evolution long before I was a Christian. It is true, however, that I probably wouldn't have pursued them beyond my initial attempts if I hadn't become a Christian and read some Creationism, I would simply have lived with the cognitive dissonance indefinitely, constantly recognizing the lack of evidence, the evidence that goes nowhere and so on, while having to accept the party line at the same time. I don't remember if I ever had a flu injection, maybe once a long time ago, but probably not. I don't worry about the flu.
