Just renewed my mlb.tv subscription this morning. Baseball on my tv, tablet and phone. What a wonderful country.

You are right of course it is a beautiful country full of many brilliant, energetic and generous people. We shouldn't conflate the system with the people. You don't blame the student for not knowing what the teacher never taught them.
The returns on investing massively in education seem so obvious and the costs of not investing so massive. Also, I like to take my kids down to the riverside park in Windsor, just across from Detroit, and show them what will happen if they don't stay in school and why a little bit of socialism can be a good thing.

The view of Detroit, I believe, is his point.

If you look across from Windsor in many places it looks like an industrial wasteland. Here is a picture of Zug Island looking back toward Windsor.

I agree with GDR, Amaricans are the first to come and help no matter where. Except their own back yard. See that homeless guy shivering, asking for a dollar? Go get a job, fucking bum. See that single parent struggling to pay the bills? Get a job, lazy moocher. See that Hispanic family busting their ass working for a pittance, just trying to better their life? Get out of my country. Hear that story about the woman getting knocked up just for more child support/welfare? ALL food stamp recipients are scumbags and the system needs to be eradicated. I'm sorry, but America is only beautiful for people with money. For the rest of us, it's a fucking nightmare. The American dream is a joke, a lie told to you so you work harder for the businesses so they can milk you more. Well you cant say it doesn't work. You do clock in more hours then most other nations although some beat you by fare. we usually clock in around 170 hours per month, 250 hours is the max a company can legally demand from you and even that can only happen for a few months. But im talking about averaging the normals, we do have half time work and stuff like that so the real average would be much lower. Especially if you count in the politicians and judges bastards hardly work at all. but i cant count in the people that work off the books as that is kind of an epidemic in my country as wages are taxed pretty hard, so that leads to more people not wanting to pay the taxes thus being illegal workers. Both the companies and the workers love it since they usually split the difference, the workers make more money the companies pay less. But the workers can get screwed real bad as they are not protected like normal workers, the normals are actually way overprotected but dont know about it so they often screw themselves, like for example sighning a mutual dissolvment of the employee contract forfeiting all unemployment rights as it is considered quitting by the state. They tried to screw a friend of mine over that way last week and also adding a claws in what he was supposed to sighn that at the time of the sighing no obligations existed between either party. Even though they owed him 2 months wages, and if they would have fired him in a normal way severance pay. And if he sighed he wouldn't even get unemployment benefits as its considered quitting. That is not a fair assessment IMHO. I agree with GDR, Amaricans are the first to come and help no matter where. Um sure if thats what you want to believe, your help is usually translated we own you now. That's not help its extortion. Um sure if thats what you want to believe, your help is usually translated we own you now. That's not help its extortion. As you might notice from my profile, Im not American. I still claim that willingness to come and help is an admirable American trait. Collateral damage is another thing... A friend of mine said something that sums up my view quite nicely: "Americans are making it hard work to keep on loving them".

A friend of mine said something that sums up my view quite nicely: "Americans are making it hard work to keep on loving them". Yes, the "war on terror" did more to recruit terrorists than reduce the overall threat/s. It was just an excuse for warmongers and arms profiteers. For too many years (decades?) now it seems that the faction/s that think the only solution to conflicting politics is war\invasion\violence. Probably since the Second World War ... the CIA etc infiltration into other countries etc. The NSA is just more of same, just out in the open due to Snowden. Drones and assassinations are also just new technology used for old programs. Just look at how much flack Obama is getting for trying to find political solutions to Syria and Iran. Peace is never created by violent means, all you can get is a temporary truce. Peace is something that you share rather than impose -- and this is why the Iraq war was such a fiasco. by our ability to understand Rebel American Zen Deist ... to learn ... to think ... to live ... to laugh ... to share. Americans are making it hard work to keep on loving them Ist there any nation that actually likes Americans, or has a warm view of them? Apart from our former Balkan brothers Americans are the only ones we talk badly about. But we do get many nations, we have a whole lot of brits buying up houses in prekmurje no problems there we like them, we have russians, slovaks, .... we rarely talk shit about them too. Ist there any nation that actually likes Americans, or has a warm view of them? America! We think awfully highly of ourselves.

I dont think that we demand that people (other nations) like us so much as we demand that they respect us.
The problem is that we dont respect ourselves as much as we did in the times of "the greatest generation".
