Sounds like a good science fiction story. Perhaps its needs a little more filling out. Feel free to use your imagination.
BTW, why did our alien ancestors go to the trouble of disabling their GLO genes eith the identical mutation as other earthbound primates? Or did the other primates come to earth on the same excursion?

Why would a supposed superior race go to such trouble and then not fix the GLO gene while they were at it? Almost all other mammals have functional GLO genes, why retain a faulty GLO gene in the genome whihc was being created?
