Re: back to the garden
I suppose the point of this topic is that the Bible has this subtle coherence.

Simple's point
I think he's trying to say that the Bible contains explanations of events that are otherwise mysterious, such as how the animals ate after they got off the ark. (That problem never occurred to me, to be frank).
And so Adam and others had to live a long time in order to populate the earth quickly, and so did Noah, I guess.
So the point is not about God but about the validity of the Bible--I guess.

Genesis as modern fiction--maybe a movie in it
I don't see the point in it, do you?
Well, if you wanted to translate Genesis into modern fiction, you could add these creative details like "hyper-evolution."
One wonders about the dialogue. Since they lived for so long, Cain when he killed Abel might have been at least 100 years old. But in comparative terms, he'd be a mere teenager. Should he use teenage street-slang?
A tough literary call. Might come off as merely silly.
That's about the only use I can see for this fascinating theory.

The most stupid topic
This has to be the most ridiculous topic in the history of this forum.
Now, admittedly, there have been stupider posts (for example, some of my own), but I am talking about the topic as a whole.
The only thing worse than this is someone who would claim that he has exemplary moral character. That's about the only thing worse.
Simple, do you possess exemplary moral character?

Re: The most stupid topic
Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
I'm pretty like unto to him, but "hyper-evolution"? Stuff grew real fast, and evolved real fast, which explains how there was something to eat after the Flood?
I'm more interested in this age thing. I figured out that it was necessary for Adam and Eve to live a long time so that their sons would marry not their sisters but their cousins.
A cousin is not so bad to marry.
It made sense.

Re: far afield
Well, I guess I was comparing the level of ridiculousness of this topic with the level of arrogance of someone claiming that he has an exemplary moral character.
Both on the same level.

The arrogance
There are some arrogant jackasses on this forum, and I refuse to put up with them.
Paulk and MikeHager.
True, this is off-topic, but I thought I would mention it.
It bothers me.
To get back to Simple . . . I can't get back to Simple except to say that perhaps he has literary ability.

Simple
simple? literary skills?
I thought his ideas were creative. I never heard of "hyper-evolution" before.
As regards suspension, if they suspend me, then they are biased. Biased against what, I don't know, since I am rather open-minded. Basically, I'm a nihilist.
I object to somebody coming on here and telling me, that I should withdraw because I don't have sufficient reasoning skills (Paulk).
I also object to somebody coming on here and telling us that he has exemplary moral character (Mike Hager). That seems a bit much to me.
The funny thing about it is that I agree with these people overall.
I don't absolutely agree that MikeHager has an exemplary moral character, but his overall point was that one could be an atheist and be a very fine person. That I agree with.
And I don't agree with Paulk that I lack sufficient reasoning skills, but I do agree that Lewis' argument for the existence of God is faulty.
But I disagree with their method of argument.
Now back to Simple . ..

Re: Simple
like i said, if i can find a literalist who actually believes the bible literally, in everything it ACTUALLY says, i won't even argue.
Might make a good Stephen Spielberg film.

Biased against what, I don't know,
people who call others arrogant jerks, probably.
Yeah, well they are.
And I will take them on anytime, any place.
I've had it with these people who come on here and treat others with contempt. I've had it with this jumping to conclusions and this stereotyping of opinions. I'm fed up. I've been putting up with this ever since I've come on this forum. Just because I question this or that, I am automatically assumed to be of this or that group.
I've been explaining to people forever that I am not of this or that group. And then they accuse me of "baiting" them.
I'm annoyed.
What do you think?

Re: Simple
i think the admins here are generally pretty fair. i know when i got suspended i deserved it. (not that i wouldn't do it again. it was totally funny)
So maybe it is a good thing to get suspended?
I don't think so.
But I've got a big-time topic on my mind. This will shake the foundations of evcforum. I don't know what it is yet, but it is curling up in my mind.
Get prepared for something Big!!!
