Mouseover?
Sometimes known as 'hover'. It's the version of the button you see when your mouse pointer is resting on it.

Re: DEAR ADMINs
These are bigger, but I think they'll work. Is that what people had in mind? Does this satisfy the issues regarding readability?

Re: DEAR ADMINs
I like them. Not sure about the readibility issue, RAZD needs to give his opinion.
When you become ready to market the forum software are you planning on offering various suites of buttons to choose from?

Re: DEAR ADMINs
I hope this meets everyone's requirements. They took a bit more work than anticipated. I definitely think the buttons being used now are awful, and so I think these new ones should add that touch of quality to a quality site, with quality admins.
PS. One thing I notice with the ones being used at the moment, is that they seem to be set so that when you hover they become clearer. Maybe it should be the opposite?..Well, just a thought anyway - and it might help readability.

Re: DEAR ADMINs
I was thinking the same thing Mikey. I like the darker version for viewing and the lighter for the mouseover.

Re: My second design
usually the "mouseover" is bigger and bolder.
I would like the text in a dark color to contrast more with the pale blue (... for my tired eyes ...)
I could suggest maroon, but some people might object
black for the lesser ones red for the REPLY (and why not caps at the same time?)
I do think what you have done is an improvement.
added by edit: the mouseovers could also include explanatory text

see how the code was written on this post

the color should be the complementary version of the button color no that doesn't work either
perhaps you get the idea though.
see Laman tidak ditemukan – Toptechwriter
when you pick a color on the wheel it gives you information on complementary, triadic and adjacent colors. Van Gogh was big on complementary colors.
(and the buttons on the left side would be right aligned)
enjoy.

Re: My second design
Gosh. You might have to wait a while. I saved the big versions luckily.
Would I have to make the mouseover with explanitory text? How big would that be? Would there be room? (I'm not a web designer - I have no idea unfortunately).
The complimentary colours are a great idea. Thanks for the link. So you'd want the visible text as a dark colour like maroon or black?
And would you want mouseovers to remain as I have created them, or more clear aswell?
Be patient with me.

What about all the secret buttons
that only the very special people see?
The "Ignore the Baba" button!
The "Here comes another Rant" button.
The ones that only the evo's see like:
"Insert Logic here"
and those for the few reasonable creos such as the very, very secret
"Insert Miricle here" button.
Should we tell folk that it is a daemon watching over every movement that makes the buttons change design or that the mouse of GOD moves over them?
Will they need 666 permission to function?

Re: My second design
I think the mouseovers should either be the same or bigger and more contrast (as in change link to bold is common as a mouseover command in web design)

Re: My second design
What do you think of something like this? It's a rush job to give you an example. This would be the observable text. For the mouseover I might fade out the background while leaving the text dark?
