Hominid fossils can be found in many museums around the world. They are considered national treasures in the countries they are from and are put on display to the public from time to time. It is usually for a limited time so that they are not damaged by exposure or stolen, much like the way extremely valuable art is displayed.
Some of the big hominid museums:
National Museum of Ethiopia
-Middle Awash, Hadar, Konso, Omo and other sites
Kenya National Museum
-Koobi Fora, Nariokotome, Kanapoi, and other sites
Transvaal museum (South Africa)
-Sterkfontein, Swarkrans, Kromdraai
South African Museum
-Makapansgat, Elandsfontein
National Museum of Tanzania
-Olduvai, Laetoli, and other sites
Republic of Georgia State Museum
-Dmanisi
Bandung Museum of Archaeology, Java
-Trinil, Ngandong
Musee de l'Homme, France
-Neanderthals
Museum of Natural History of
Paris
-North African sites
Neanderthal Museum, Germany
-original Neanderthal site
There are many more museums beyond those listed above. If one really wants to see the hominids, you should contact the institutions to find out when they will be shown or to see if special arrangements can be made. Or you can wait for one of the big tours when they come over to the States.
Some of the best hominid pictures are taken by David Brill. Many can be seen in the book "From Lucy to Language."
Hominids are definitely real.
