This just in. A 10 year old girl just gave birth in Columbia. But the police can't do a damn thing to the father because... wait for it... it's some kind of tradition in that tribe and we have to respect and be polite to their backwatered ways of life. I don't care how politically incorrect this sound, I don't care if it's your tribal tradition or whatever. If it doesn't make sense, then screw your traditions.
I think you have pretty much screwed this story up to fit your diatribe.
From the articles I have read, most of which look like they have come from a common source, they don't know how old the father was. I have seen figures quoted from 15-30. Would your rage gland be less inflamed if the father was a 12 year old?
You also simplify when making out it is simply a matter of respecting traditions. It is more a legal matter of the tribe having their own sovereign jurisdiction. This is similar to the way that the US authorities derogate many legal issues on tribal land to the tribes in what is called "inherent sovereignty".
You might make a case that it was 'liberal commies' who formed the framework for this sort of tribal sovereignty but there doesn't seem to be a coherent reason to blame their delicate politically correct sensibilities for the fact that the law doesn't allow intervention in a specific case.

P.S. The important thing is that you have found a way to feel superior to both sides
