I would say that part of what makes us human is curiosity, a sense of adventure, and the seeking of knowledge. We are now answering questions that we thought we could never answer just 1,000 years ago. We have learned more about the universe in the last 50 years than the entire history of mankind before that. I would consider that to be one of the greatest human achievements.
