Well it is one thing to explain the mechanism{how} for which the phenomena of gravity occurs ,however the question why seems to be inquiring of the reason for gravity being a phenomena in the first place.

The mechanism for gravity is given in Einstein's General Relativity and if you want to know how that would be the place to start.
