Re: The personal God
The measure of our faith is whether or not we attribute that life the way Christ has designed it. Anything less is simply another religion which everyone, on some level has. I'm convinced of this.
What are you saying here--that everyone has a religion of some sort?

Re: Christian is Christian
If someone says they are a Christian, why would anyone doubt it?
They might be telling a lie.

Re: Christian is Christian
Yup, even Christians lie.
They might think that declaring themselves Christians gives them a practical advantage of some sort, and they might be right about that. So just because someone calls himself a Christian, this does not mean necessarily that he is one.

One of the things that annoys me to no end here are the christians who are exclusionary
I don't know why you are so opposed to that. I like being exclusive.

I'm so sick of the automatic political correctness on this forum that I feel like starting a PNT on it.
We mustn't be "exclusive," must we?
Everybody is "exclusive"!

if that's political correctness, blame jesus. he started it.
What about the wailing and the gnashing of the teeth? That doesn't count?

as far as people go, i certainly try not to.
That must be a real strain on you, trying so hard not to judge people. It's such a natural part of human behavior. For example, I think I'm right and that people who disagree with me are wrong. However, it doesn't offend me that they should be wrong.
I also judge people's behavior. If I see someone do something that I think is shabby in the moral sense, I judge them for that.

Re: Exclusive or unique?
exclusiveadj 1 : reserved for particular persons 2 : snobbishly aloof; also : stylish 3 : sole <~ rights>; also : undivided syn chic, modish, smart, swank, fashionable exclusive n exclusively adv exclusiveness n exclusivity
Are you exclusive, Robin? Or are you unique?
Well, I'm definitely stylish, but not unique. Nobody is "unique."
Some Christians use the exclusivity argument as a group to assert that Heaven is reserved for them.
Yeah, that's called Christianity. If I were a Christian, I'd do that too. I don't see anything wrong with that. All these charges of arrogance for this belief could be leveled as well against any other group. For example, according to my arrogant nihilism, all those billions of people who are theists are dead wrong: they're living in a dream world. How "arrogant" of me.

Also not being judgemental, or passing judgement, that I wouldn't want passed to me.
I don't see how not being judgmental is even possible. I also don't see why it's automatically so great not to be judgmental. What kind of judgment would you not want "passed to" you"?

Passing judgment would be like me telling jar that you have stinky breath because you don't take care of yourself, when I really don't know why you have stinky breath.
If Jar has stinky breath, you have the right to judge that. However, it would be imprudent to tell him that.

First off, if jar had stinky breath, it's a fact, and I am not judging it.
There are different kinds of judgments. Not all judgments are moral judgments.
If I had a booger hanging from my nose, would you tell me, or just let it hang there, and then go to your friends later and say, hey you know that guy Anthony, he had a booger hanging from his nose, and it was gross?
One of the unwritten rules of our society is that a person must not have a booger hanging from his or her nose. I'd pass you a tissue.
But I'm off-topic. Something about "judgment" might make a good PNT.
abe: Keep in mind also that there is such a thing as a favorable judgment. So if you don't judge people, you never judge favorably either. Actually we all do it--frequently.
